Stuck On The Falcon On Ahch-To

A few days of an unwell Remii passed, each with daily visits from Kylo Ren. It was difficult for him to care for Remii in their current circumstance - no matter how real it seemed there was a physical and metaphorical distance between them. And such a distance announced itself when the physical perimeters around him blurred, a strange clash of island and base proving the distance between them. Sometimes he couldn't walk outside the hut. Sometimes he couldn't even see the hut. But no matter what did and didn't appear to them, Remii was always there.

Until today.

Night had long fallen by the time Ben appeared. An entire day spent with bated breath and restless wandering and wondering until it finally brought him to her. Or so he thought. This time when Ben appeared outside of the hut and swung the door open, all he found was the little green gremlin fast asleep on the bed. The creature wasn't blocking Ben with the Force now, so he could see Grogu perfectly. He scoffed.

But his suspicions grew. Where was Remii? He couldn't exactly search for her since her surrounding area wasn't complete through their Force connections. Ben was lucky he could see the grass outside her hut this time. When he walked back out of the hut, he could only make out snippets of the land throughout the First Order fleet. A few rocks here, a patch of dirt there. Ben could hear the distant waves but he couldn't see them. As he ventured down the spotted path though that was when an object, large and dominant, appeared in the distance. And as Ben inched closer, he knew - the Falcon. From here he could see a distant glow from inside and immediately his suspicions settled. He could sense her.

Ben didn't think of it when he approached the ship, just how uncomfortable or triggering it would be. No, he didn't think of that until he was on board. And even then, Remii's grunts from the other room steered his mind clear of other distractions. "Remii," he called, soft but clear.

"Ben?"

Immediately the sound of her saying his name, his real name, yanked at his heart in a way he hadn't expected it too. She'd said his name since forever, since their early days as children and even now as he stood before her as Kylo Ren. But the softness in her tone, her relief, it tugged at him. He needed to steady himself before he advanced.

"Ben, I'm in here!"

Ben hurried, his heavy boots echoing across the floor. Such a sound yanked at Remii's own heart. It was intimidating, but terribly exciting. When he reached the cockpit, Ben froze, frowning curiously.

Remii turned around in the seat as much as she could to face him, her face screaming bashful embarrassment.

Remii sitting here in the cockpit Ben knew better than the back of his hand, it somehow made sense. It was like the seat was hers, like she belonged in there. In a way, seeing her there eased Ben's tension once he was secure enough to address it. It almost distracted him right off his train of thought.

"It's not what it looks like," Remii began, her white-knuckled grip tight around the seatbelt strap. "Well, actually, I don't know what this looks like but whatever it looks like, it isn't what it is."

Ben exhaled shortly from his nose as he fought back his smile. "What did you do?"

"It's not what I did! It's what the chair did!" Remii lowered her blushing face as she continued to tug on the strap. It warmed Ben to see her as her usual self again. "Okay," she sighed. "I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd hang out here until I felt tired. But now the seatbelt's jammed and...I really have to pee."

Again, it was difficult to hide his smile but Ben drew closer. It was clear she really needed his help and honestly, Ben loved it. "Alright," he began, bending down as he started fussing with the buckle. Sure enough, the strap was jammed inside. Ben's brows curled as he focused, growing more serious by the second as the device continued to battle him. When jamming his thumb into the buckle didn't help, he too moved to yanking on the strap. Still nothing. "Watch out," he warned, waiting for Remii to lean back as he pulled even harder on the strap, bearing his nails into it. As if he thought he could tear it in two himself. Maybe he could. But he couldn't tonight. The two took turns yanking and tugging on the restraint to no avail.

"How long have you been stuck like this?" Ben grunted, scrunching his nose in the struggle.

"A while," Remii grunted back. "I'm super bloated and it hurts now so...just use your saber. I'll fix the belt later."

Ben paused, leaning further into her direct line of vision for assurance. She looked at him desperately. "Just do it. Please. Just don't slice me."

Kylo Ren didn't hesitate as he straightened his back and unsheathed his saber, igniting the blade. The saber crackled and sparked like a burning flame as it illuminated across Remii's skin. She flinched at the sight and sound of it and her tension remained as she leaned away from the blade. But Ben moved with extreme caution as he brought his saber to the strap, stretching it as far away from Remii as he could as the blade cleaning sliced through like melting butter. Both of them exhaled with relief, Remii gripping the armrests tightly until the saber sizzled out. Remii looked up at Ben with wide eyed relief, briefly gripping his wrist before she shot up from the chair.

"I'll be right back!" she called, darting from the room and around the corner, leaving Ben alone in the cockpit.

His tension finally settled back in as he gazed around at the blinking wall displays, humming dashboard and dirtied glass. It was...all too familiar. All too much of him. Memories clung to this room - to the entire ship - like dirt clung to the walls. It built up over the years and was nearly impossible to remove.

He needed air.

Ben quickly darted from the room himself as he stepped out into the corridor. He almost found himself avoiding this room entirely too, as if the walls had eyes. He admittedly let out a breath of relief when he finally heard the holding tank exhaust, followed by Remii's hurried footsteps a few moments later. When she rejoined him, she looked completely relieved, almost...relaxed.

"Thank you," she breathed, grinning as she suddenly reached up on her tip toes, gripped his shoulder and...kissed his cheek. It came as a...complete surprise to the both of them. When Remii had realized what she'd done, Ben was already acting upon his own impulse. Because the second her lips touched his cheek, his lips were already turning towards hers. He paused when he realized what was happening, his lips inches from hers, their eyes glued to one another. The two stood there looking at one another, chests falling and rising with anticipation. In perfect unison. A long moment in shared silence, shared eagerness, shared excitement passed between them. Remii kept her hand to his shoulder, her eyes fluttering around his face. "What now?" she whispered.

Ben looked at Remii's lips. And then at Remii. It was after their next inhale that Ben finally pressed his lips to Remii's in both an eagerly awaited and completely unexpected kiss.
