Expectations And The Exact Opposite On Ahch-To

Just as suddenly as he'd arrived, Ben was gone again, in the blink of an eye. This too should've frustrated Remii but now she expected it every time. Until they could actually be together, these blips would relentlessly continue. She knew the truth behind it, but wondered just how much about their connections was controlled by someone else or by the Force on its own. Either way, Remii had seen both what she was expecting and what she hadn't. 

And what she saw in that split second vision kept her up that night. And the night after that. And the night after that. And for those three days there was no sign of Ben. It was yet another brutal cliffhanger the two were left dangling from, miles and vast expanses across the galaxy between one another. 

Remii continued to act completely unfazed (at least around the boys - the girls had spill sessions at night, the frog ladies even joined in at times with their nightly brew of what they'd coined 'grass tea', which, it probably was). The longer she could avoid raising suspicion, the less drama that would scorn her path. Plus if it meant she'd have more of these little moments with Ben, she'd gladly take them. 

As the days crawled by, suspicion bubbled in a different aspect of their journey - the unknown. Why were these no-Ben periods so painfully and dreadfully long? Was Grogu going to stay on the island? Was love brewing all around Remii as she'd hoped, like the grass tea? With these questions came zero answers, even with Grogu. Whenever Remii asked, he just sealed his baby lips and stared at her with those big bulging eyes. Again, making her assume it was she that had that answer. But she didn't. Remii's decision making skills were about as strong as her math skills - not. 

By the fourth day, Remii's patience had run dry, just as the crops on the island had. The season was slowly drifting into that of one even more hot and sticky, if such a thing were even possible. The group barely saw Chewie now as he'd taken residence in the coldest maintenance bay of the Falcon. You couldn't blame him at all, he was basically a giant dog.

Morning transitioned to midday, to afternoon, and eventually into evening, deep oranges and purples painting across the sky. Remii said her good nights, watched Luke saunter into his hut and walked back into her own to pace. It had become a recent hobby of hers, waiting with heart-pounding anticipation if tonight would be the night. 

She closed her eyes, picturing him, hearing his voice. Remii was the type that believed your ear ringing meant someone was talking about you, or that seeing 11:11 and making a wish really would work. So she fully believed that imagining him just then made him appear. She jolted as the door swung open and a huffing Kylo Ren appeared. The second his gaze landed on hers, it stayed there, even as he forced his way into the hut and locked himself in. Even as he didn't mutter a single word, only soft breaths as he crossed the room to her. 

Remii barely noticed, she was too caught up in what she wanted to say. "Ben," she breathed. "I was worried s--"

A flash of warmth shot across Remii's entire body as Kylo's large hands framed her face, his head lowering to meet her eye level as he pressed his lips into hers. It immediately caused a stir within Remii and she fought hard against the swirling in her head. She didn't know what to do with her hands, where to put them. But she was already kissing him back. Somehow her hands travelled around his forearms as he continued to kiss her. Over and over and over.

Remii could now die happy. Yup, this was it. Her body trembled with overflowing delight as he continued, his thumbs pressing into her cheeks as if to check she was really there. His lips were so warm, Remii hadn't realized how chilled she was before. Eventually Remii's hands found his face and gently pressed to his cheeks, his own hands mimicking how hers had been placed - wrapped around her forearms, securing her there. They barely came up for air, they didn't dare it. But when Remii needed it, pressing her chin upward as if breaking through the surface of water, Ben's lips travelled up and down and across her neck. The energy between them was intoxicating and heavy.
