She paled considerably, her mouth opening and closing like a fish as she tried to say something.
"Delanie-" she pulled me into a hug, me pulling against her embrace.
"You-" I pulled away slightly, and she frowned. "You didn't... Why didn't you come for me?"
"I couldn't, they'd shoot me dead-"
"Are you kidding me?" I stepped back farther, back to Kaleb and Hale. "I got put into a military base. I was raised like one of those meatheads looking for me!"
"What do you-" she started.
"Marie found me, and took care of me until this past summer. Then these two-" she hesitated at two," -they smuggled me out, and now I trust them with my life. You did nothing. You were fucking dead!" I yelled now.
"Get inside. There're Infected coming." she looked worried.
"We can fight them on our own."
"Del, listen to her. We can get a break for once." Kaleb said softly.
"Oh. So you're on her side now? Fine. We'll fucking go in and get some 'rest'. Then whether you're coming or not, I'm leaving. I will find them." I snapped, and stalked through the gates, Kaleb and Hale trailing behind me.
Maybe I was on my own for real this time.

"You're going for the Resistance?" my mother asked incredulously.
"Yeah. I am. Got a fucking problem?" I said, cleaning my nails out.
"They're too far away."
"They're at the University, which.. oh hey look. Is here." I said.
"They left a long time ago, Delanie."
"What do you mean?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing.
"They just.. left." she said, her hand dropping to her sides.
"They cant have just left!" I cried out, throwing my hands in the air. "How, they- they were here! This was where Carl-" I choked up at the thought, because not only Carl showed up, but Jacob too, his eyes pleading for us to leave him. "This was where he told me they would be." I whispered. "They can't have left."
"I'm sorry, Delanie-" she put her hand on my shoulder.
"Don't touch me." I snapped, shrugging her off. "Do you know where they went?"
"We haven't dared venture into that lab. Don't know what the hell's in there."
"We have- I- have to find out.." I said, desperate now.
"I can send in a team with you, only to find evidence. That's all I can do." she said.
I bit my lip.
"Thank you." I said, before throwing my arms around her. "And.. I'm sorry for earlier."
She slowly put her arms around me. "It's alright. I would have acted the same way."
I sniffed, and hugged her tighter. "I'm so glad you weren't really..." I gulped.
"I know, me too." we laughed.
"You and these two can set out in the morning, seven-thirty. Should get you enough time to look for evidence and get back before dark. These two are my best."
One was a woman with reddish hair, tied in a ponytail. The other was a stocky man with a dark beard and dark hair, sprinkled with grey.
My eyes widened at the man.
