Hey guys- this is the last part, and I'm kind of sad!

There will not be a sequel, I am sorry to say, but this will wrap up nicely, I promise! But you can go read some of my other stories that I will be posting- hopefully today!

I love you guys for reading this story so much, I know the 'zombie' thing has kind of grown out, but you guys continued to read stories, and now have reached mine!

Thanks, sorry for the long author's note.

==========

The car had gone a long time ago now, and so the three ventured on foot.

"We're nearly there now." Joel said shortly, and Hale's hand grasped Delanie's.

They climbed up a cliff, everything turned green in the morning light filtering through the trees.

"I- I need to ask you something." she said softly to Joel, and they stopped.

She pulled away from Hale, and he frowned.

Delanie looked straight into Joel's eyes.

"Tell me the truth about what happened back there. You said I did what I could to help, and we could only hope. You hate hope."

He deflated slightly.

"There... there were five others, like you. They needed your brain. All of it." he explained, and her eyes widened in growing horror. "They had more than enough, but they wanted more. I wasn't going to let them take you."

For all of this, he stared into her eyes, showing her he wasn't lying.

Delanie's shoulders dropped, and he ran into his arms.

"Thank you." she whispered, and after a moment, let go.

They turned to face the south, her now rib length hair blowing in the wind behind her, and she grasped both of their hands.

"Let's go home."
