"Him?" The man before Izuku questioned in disbelief. "Honestly, I've never received a request to get to see him before. What gives?"
"I'm sorry if it's troublesome, Mr. Mitsugi." Izuku bowed his head. "I was hoping that wouldn't be too troubling."
"Why, of course not! I'm simply surprised. And cut the mister, you don't work for me anymore." Mitsugi, the manager of the Pet Service which Izuku had been working in before, smiled at him brightly.
"Right. Thank you." Izuku smiled back. It felt great being able to speak to a beta that had previously only called him omega when in front of customers, even if Izuku knew that he was doing it because that's just how things worked in pet stores. He took a deep breath, the weight on his shoulders lifting a little.
"I'll give him a call right now, but while I'm at it..." Mitsugi stopped speaking for a little as he hummed, seeming to search for the contact number. He seemed to find it, and before pressing it, looked back up at Izuku. "Why do you want to see him? I don't think you've ever asked for him before, and you've only met that one time, right?"
"You're right, but..." Izuku hesitated. He didn't want to start seeming dramatic, but it suddenly seemed to be exactly what his situation was. He chuckled slightly to himself. "I guess I feel like he might be wise enough to give me a tip about something. After all, that's what he did to me when he first found me."
"You know, I'm surprised you caught on." Mitsugi leaned back in his chair and pressed the phone against his ear, starting the call. "He's actually pretty wise, even if he's only slightly older than me. I'm sure he can help you with whatever you need—he usually likes helping people. Great for his job, don't you think?" Izuku smiled and nodded, remembering the outstretched hand he had seen on his first day after running away from home.
"Yeah, it sure is great." Izuku replied quietly.
"Oh, you answered! It's good that you're keeping your phone with you. Finally becoming modern?" Mitsugi smirked and winked at Izuku, who simply smiled at him gratefully. "Oh no, no! Fine, I won't bother you, don't end the call. I'm not making this call for me, anyways."
"Yeah, there's a request to see you. I was wondering if you're free right now? And before you ask, yes, this won't be a waste of your time. As a matter of fact," Mitsugi smiled reassuringly at Izuku, "I think you're going to enjoy this young man's company quite a lot."
Mitsugi hummed for a little while as he listened, and then gave him the details as they figured out a time for him and Izuku to meet. Izuku couldn't believe it, but he was more than happy to hear that the person whom he was calling was coming.
"While we're waiting," Mitsugi smirked and leaned forward while resting his chin on his interlocked fingers, "tell me. Maybe I can help even better than him—who knows?" Izuku chuckled sheepishly, unsure whether or not that was a good idea.
"It's pretty...personal." Izuku spoke hesitantly, unsure how to form his sentence in a way that wouldn't seem ungrateful. "I want to talk about it, you know, with someone I don't know well but know well enough to be able to trust them. It's pretty hard to talk to someone you're close to about personal things, don't you think?" Izuku formed his words in a way that made Mitsugi seem flattered, and he was somewhat proud of himself when Mitsugi leaned back and smiled, seeming to be satisfied with being called 'close' to Izuku.
"Yes, of course! That's clever, Midoriya." Mitsugi tapped his fingers together, clearly being the energetic and restless type. "While we're waiting, do you want some tea? Or something stronger?" Izuku laughed at the suggestive tone, and was quick to shake his head.
