Chapter 19

Izuku woke up, rubbing his eyes. The waking up didn't feel right, considering Mieko wasn't crying and it didn't look like morning outside, but he blamed it on his broken schedule—or the lack of one.

Grabbing his phone from the nightstand beside him, he checked the time, blinded by the bright screen for a few seconds. It was about 3 am, which was absolutely fucking great. Now what? Why did he even wake up in the first place? He really would've valued a few minutes of extra sleep right now, so waking up in the middle of the night was ten times worse than it would have been, say, a little over a month ago.

Izuku slowly sat up, still rubbing his eyes and yawning quietly. Mieko lay beside him on her side, and he watched her for a few seconds as the little girl's breath whistled in the silence of the night. Adorable sight, really, should that same little adorable girl not have been the source of so many sleepless nights and the stress Izuku was feeling.

Izuku slowly stood up and took her into his hands, shushing quietly as he slowly set her into the crib. Not his favorite thing, but at the very least he could leave her alone without having to worry, which was exactly what he needed right now.

Izuku slowly headed into the bathroom, turning on the lights and quickly closing the door behind him. He walked up towards the mirror, scanning his features in it, which he'd definitely not done in a while.

His skin looked a little more pale than it should be, and his eye bags, which were a natural thing he had since he was a kid, had gotten a little darker. His hair was a mess and was close to needing a haircut, and he didn't even want to mention how many knots there were in his hair that he'd have to untangle sooner or later. Preferably sooner, but, as always, definitely not now.

Slowly and hesitantly, he raised his shirt, scanning the stretch marks on his stomach. He sighed as he looked at the light purple and green marks, pursing his lips. He wasn't exactly one to think too much about whether or not he was pretty, but to say that this had him a little depressed was an understatement. He didn't look half his best, and although he didn't have people he wanted to particularly impress, it was still daunting.

Except, maybe he did have a certain somebody he still wanted to impress. His alpha wasn't a person who just so happened to live with him, and as strained as their relationship was, he still wanted the blond to value him as much as he did before the incident.

His whole body tensed as he heard the door of the bedroom click and he quickly lowered his shirt, eyes snapping towards the bathroom door. Was that Katsuki? Why was he here? And if it wasn't Katsuki, who was it?

Izuku quickly hurried towards the door and opened it, turning off the lights in order not to wake up Mieko. A figure stood in the doorway, slightly hunched over as they just stood there. Izuku eyed the figure warily.

"Katsuki?" Izuku called out quietly. There was no response, but the body slightly flinched. Izuku narrowed his eyes, clenching his fists. "Katsuki, what are you doing?"

"Izu...ku." Katsuki grunted out. As Izuku's eyes gradually adjusted, he watched as Katsuki bowed his head, leaning against the doorframe as his body tensed.

"Katsuki. What's wrong, what is it?" Izuku walked up towards Katsuki, unsure of what to do. Katsuki looked like he was out of it, and Izuku wasn't sure what to do. Should he be driving him to the hospital? Was he not feeling well, or was he trying to talk to him in the middle of the night because he couldn't sleep either?

He took another step towards him but was quick to freeze up. How could he have not sensed this earlier? Those pheromones...

"Izuku." Katsuki took a big step towards him, and Izuku quickly stepped back, but his step was too small and too slow. Katsuki wrapped his hands around him and the two stumbled, Katsuki holding out his hand last second so they wouldn't hit the ground too hard. The two gasped as they fell onto the ground, Katsuki on top of Izuku and quickly recovered, nuzzling his nose into Izuku's scent gland on his neck.
