Song Recommendation - Personal (HRVY)
"George?"
Almost an entire week later, on December 31st, Tubbo stood with his mother in the doorway of the bedroom. Cathy was holding a box of party supplies and decorations, and Tubbo was holding a box of yellow cake mix.
"Mmmgh?" George grumbled. He attempted to sit up, but realized he was unable to, and someone was pinning him down. Dream.
Shit.
"Dream, get up," he hissed, waking the blonde up enough to start rubbing his eyes and let go of him. "Mum, I-"
"Did you not trust me to... know? George, I love you, I'm your mother."
"No, mum, it's not like that-"
"George, why didn't you just tell me?"
"I just- I wasn't ready, Mum!" George pleaded.
Cathy walked back out of the room, dropping the decorations on the table and rushing to her room. Tubbo sighed, defeated. "I just wanted to make a cake..."
George got dressed in fresh clothing. At least we were wearing clothes, he thought to himself. He inhaled deeply and knocked on his mother's bedroom door. He looked over at Dream, who had agreed to bake a cake with Tubbo. He simply nodded at the brunette before Tubbo turned them both white - or, white-er - by spilling flour from a bag he had attempted to get off the shelf everywhere.
"Dude, the mix has flour in it," Dream laughed.
Cathy opened the door, and George stepped in.
"I trust you, Mum, I just didn't know how to tell you. And I wanted to wait because I wasn't exactly ready-"
Cathy cut him off with a big hug.
"I just wish you knew I loved you. No matter what."
"I do, Mum. I love you, too."
"You seem so embarrassed by me."
"I just felt inadequate. Dream has so much, and I thought that compared to him, we had so little. I'm so sorry, Mum. That was unfair to you, to Wilbur, and to Tubbo."
Cathy ran her fingers through her son's hair. "It's alright, love. I'm just happy you're happy. A mother is only as happy as her saddest child."
They left the room after the hug ended and the cake was already in the oven.
"Aw, I wanted to lick the bowl," Cathy said.
Tubbo handed her a batter-covered spatula and brought her behind the counter, while Dream turned to George.
"Hey, Georgi- uh, George, I have a doctor's appointment," Dream said, "and I was wondering if you could maybe go with me?"
"Sure, Pottery."
Dream scoffed, smiling. "Okay, it's just a checkup, mostly to know if I'm okay for sports and sh- stuff, you know?"
"Yeah, of course. When is it?"
Dream chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "Hah... noon."
"What?! Clay, it's," George checked his watch, "eleven! Where even is it?!"
George's mother came rushing over to the two boys. "Is everything okay?!"
"Yeah, this idiot," George motioned to the blonde standing beside him, "needs to go to a doctor's thing and forgot to tell me."
"I didn't forget! It just... slipped my mind."
"What made you remember?"
"A text from my dad." George tensed. Dream looked to George's mom. "He really wants me to play football again," he covered.
