Encounter with Fate

Summer party pt.1

"What should I wear?" Headphones murmured to herself while looking through the closet. "The pool's going to be open but it doesn't mean I have to swim."

It was Friday, the day of Aloha's summer party. To Headphones, she felt that the week had flown by, with getting everything ready for school and training helping to have a hand with speeding up the week.

She still couldn't believe that she, Goggles and Bobbles were able to convince Specs to go to Aloha's end of summer party. Aloha's parties could get a little crazy and with it being close to school, she though that Specs would never agree to go... well not without him laying down some ground rules for the party.

"This should work" Headphones pulled out a light blue short sleeve blouse. She went to her dresser and opened the middle drawer, pulling out a black swim skirt and a deep blue swim top with a teal and white leaves print.

Headphones looked at her Squidsister theme alarm clock on her nightstand. It read 6:58 pm, Team Pink's house was close to Mahi-Mahi Resort and some of the houses around there were beach houses, including Team Pink's. It was only a 2-3 minute walk to the sandy beach from Team Pink's house, there was another beach but it wasn't for beach time it had more of a stone shore then sandy shore and was right next to the woods. 

Team Pink's house wasn't to far from Team Blue's house, it was about a 25 minute walk. It would be a good idea to get going due to the long walk there.

Changing into the new outfit, grabbing her phone, wallet and housekey, she walked out of her room and into the living room. Specs was in the living room waiting for the rest of Team Blue, he was wearing his usual outfit expect he was wearing deep blue swim trunks and was tapping his foot impatiently.

"Bobbles, Goggles come on! We need to get going!" Specs yelled towards their bedrooms.

A loud thud came from Goggles bedroom as Bobbles hurried out of her bedroom and into the living room. She was wearing her usual grey hoodie, shorts, bobble hat, and purple sea slugs.

"I'm good to go!" Bobbles cheerfully said as she walked into the living room.

"Where's your swimsuit?" Specs asked as she joined them.

"I'm wearing it underneath my clothes, I'll change when we get there."

As Bobbles finished her explanation Goggles bedroom door burst open and he came running out to join them nearly colliding with the group, only to trip and crash down in front of them. Goggles got up in a daze but quickly shook it off and smiled at his teammates.

"I'm ready to party!" Goggles said, throwing his fists in the air in excitement, along with a grocery bag in each hand.

He was wearing a black T-shirt, blue flip-flops, his usual goggles, and deep blue swim trunks with a white starfish print. He was carrying two plastic grocery Bags filled with different flavors of chips for the party.

Specs give Goggles a look then faced the rest of the team, light reflecting off his glass's. "Okay before we leave, I want to set down some ground rules for the party." He then turned to Goggles and Bobbles "And make sure that you remember to follow them."

"Rule 1: make sure you stay close to people that you know. Rule 2: be careful with drinks in cause there's alcohol there. Rule 3: If you decide to leave early text us to let us know when you leave and when you get back, so we don't spend half the night looking and worrying about where you went off too." Specs said while counting off with his fingers.

"Okay we understand, can we get going? It's a long walk there." Headphones said trying to calm him down.

Specs let out a sigh "Okay, okay, I'll try to ease up." Then smiled "Come on let's head on out..."

It was around 7:27 when Team Blue made it to Team Pink's house, just from the outside they could hear the faint sound of music coming from inside. On the porch there were a few small groups of inklings who were talking with each other or on their phones, a few of them looking a little drunk.

"Rule 2 guys." Specs whispered to them when seeing the drunk inklings.

As Team Blue entered the house the music increased in volume. Just from the entrance the place looked like a mess, there were lots of snacks, drinks, dancing, and people talking (a few of them looking drunk).

"Where should I put these?" Goggles asked holding up the grocery bags.

"Probably in the kitchen?" Bobbles answered.

"Okay, Bobbles, Headphones you two go on ahead, I'll help Goggles with the snacks." Spec said.

"Sure, see you guys in a bit." Headphones replied.

Specs and Goggles walked off toward the kitchen, as Headphones and Bobbles went deeper into the house. Headphones kept looking for any signs of Half-rim or Skull hoping to talk to them about what they should do about their training sessions with school coming up. When they got towards the back porch, she spotted Clip-ons and Straps (from team Gloves) next to the door that led out to the backyard/pool, it looked like they were talking.

"Clips! Straps!" Headphones walked over smiling "How you guys doing?"

"Doing good." Clips grinned at the two blue inklings "Did you guys just get here?"

"Yeah, just exploring right now, hey is Half-rim here by any chance?"

Clips and Straps looked at each other nervously.

"Oh, well, ah... Half-rim said he wasn't feeling so hot so he decided to stay home." Straps quickly explained.

"Yeah!" Clips added "It's just us and Gloves but he went off to talk Emperor."

The conversation was cut short when Bobbles tapped Headphones on the shoulder.

"I found the S4, their by the pool."

"Oh okay, it was nice seeing you guys" Headphones said turning back to them "Hey could you tell-"

"We'll tell him you say hi." Straps finished, smiling.

"Thanks"

Headphones followed Bobbles out into the backyard towards the pool. Ahola was holding a drink and talking with Army and Rider, both of them looking annoyed. Skull was sitting in one of the pool chairs by the pool, looking through a strange looking book. Mask was sitting on the edge of the pool, dangling his feet into the water while watching a video on his phone. 

Before Headphones and Bobbles could join them, Specs and Goggles finally caught up with them.

"Hey guys!" Goggles yelled and waved towards them.

The S4 and Rider turned to the group of blue inklings and smiled as they joined them. Specs and Goggles joined Army's, Rider's, and Ahola's conversation, Army and Rider started talking to Specs about a team practice they could do, as Goggles and Ahola added their usual funny remarks. Bobbles, while taking her shoes off, joined Mask on the pool edge trying to start a conversation with him.

"Hey Mask!" Her smile growing a bit "Wacha watching?"

"Uh...just a video." He said quickly tapping out of it, sounding annoyed but with a bit of nervousness as well.

Headphones smiled, after learning about how Mask ended up causing the whole cooking accident it seemed to her that Mask may have a crush on Bobbles.

"As long as she's happy." Headphones thought as she turned away from them and walked over to Skull.

As soon as he saw her walking over, he quickly put the book he was reading away in what looked like a purple beach bag.

"Hey Skull." She said giving him a smile "Mind if I join you?"

Skull scooted over and patted the now free space, offering it to her. she smiled and muttered a small thank you as she sat down next to him.

AND stop, I know I cut it when things were getting good, but some stuff is going to happen in the next part. Still why was Skull so quick to hide that book? Will Mask try to make his move on Bobble hat? What were Straps and Clips hiding about Half-rim? Stay tuned!
