Encounter with Fate

On the Job Pt.1

Skull: So Norman made you sign a contract and now we're going to be working together for a year

Headphones was currently in her free period class texting Skull about what had happened after Norman took her to his office to explain what she would be doing. Since it was only the second day of school there wasn't much to work on, so the students were either talking with friends, working on the few assignments they had, playing on their phones, or watching videos on their Chromebooks.

Headphones: Pretty much, he taught me a protection symbol I draw on the wall to help keep 'unwanted' guests out

Skull: Bet Specs wished he had one to help keep boys away from you and Bobbles

Headphones: I can picture that

Headphones couldn't help but smile at Skull's joke, helping lift her spirits a little.

Skull: Do you need any help putting them up?

Headphones thought for a moment, she was the only Team Blue member going straight home after school. Bobbles had texted the team earlier saying she was gonna hang out with Full-Moon Glasses after school, Goggles was staying for the Sewing club meet-up, and Specs was gonna run some errands after school.

"It should be fine as long as we finish up before the others come home, especially before Specs comes home." Headphones thought texting Skull back.

Headphones: The others have plans after school, should be fine if we finish before Specs gets back

Skull: Yeah, don't want to deal with him, meet up in the front after school?

Headphones: Sounds good, see ya in a bit

Headphones checked the time, 3:28, she quickly put away her things, she couldn't believe how long she'd been texting Skull. The other students were already packing up their things while a few were standing around waiting for the final bell to go off.

"I wonder if Skull had to put up these symbols too." Headphones thought putting on her backpack.

The final bell rang, and students hurried out of their classrooms and began flooding the hallways. With it being the end of the second day of school and the excitement for the weekend, everyone was eager to get back home. That was one of the things Headphones didn't like about Highschool, all the rush full hallway traffic.

"At least it 's the weekend," Headphones muttered to herself, maneuvering past an open locker.

Finally making it toward the front, Headphones slipped outside and spotted Skull standing underneath a tree. After spotting her from among the stream of students, Skull waved at her and she hurried over.

"You ready?" Skull asked, readjusting the strap of his backpack.

"Yeb," Headphones warmly smiled, making the purple inkling blush a little but was hidden by his bandana.

"Anyways, we should get going, I don't want Specs to catch me," Skull replied, leading the way.

"Yeah, I don't want you sneaking out the window again." Headphones giggled, walking at his side.

"She's just so adorable,"  

"So you haven't put up any of those protection symbols at your house?" Headphones asked, unlocking the door to Team Blue's house.

"Nope, never really needed them since I can see them or sense if there's something there," Skull answered, following Headphones into the house. "If I do see them in the house, me and the team take care of it."
