Poppy's P.O.V.
This happened a long time ago. 1-2 years ago during Thronecoming. It was the event that changed me and Holly's life forever after. It was the morning on before the day of Thronecoming. Everyone's classes were cut short and replaced with long orientations about how to act during Thronecoming, the schedule and most importantly if any Rebels would be signing the book. Headmaster Grimm made the third part especially long, as if he wanted to make sure it would stick in our brains like how gum stuck to hair and shoes. (Which both are totally annoying to be honest)
"Thronecoming is one of the rare events where the Storybook of Legends is shown to the public, which I mean you students, and is able to open throughout the day. Which means the Rebels shall sign!" he said staring straight at Raven Quee, "Also, some Royals who were unable to sign due to Ms.Queen's interruption will be able to finally sign. If you are a Royal and you'd like to sign, please let me know and we can arrange something after the ball."
The daughter of the Evil Queen's hand shot up, before she nervously put it down again after the headmaster stared her down. When Apple White's pale, snow white hand went up, he gracefully called her name. "Headmaster," she said in her sweet voice, "Do you mean Raven-I mean the Rebels-are able to sign. Does that mean we won't go poof?"
The headmaster nodded before talking more about the importance of signing, keeping tradition. He noted that the book would be able to be opened with our legacy keys starting from 12:00AM to 11:59PM. I felt a heavy brick sink in my stomach, I was supposed to be the next Rapunzel, but Holly and I were mixed up during birth.
It soon ended and Holly and I left to our dorms to grab our fabrics, sewing kits, etc. During the Thronecoming Ball, students made their very own suits and dresses with teh help of friends or animals. "What will we do?" asked Holly, frantically, "I can't sign, it's not my birthright!"
"Calm down, there has to be a way," I soothed, though secretly I was feeling hopeless too.
"The headmaster did say the Storybook of Legends is able to be opened and signed tomorrow. The only problem is, I am unable to sign."
An idea popped into my head. I immediately suggest, "Wait, what if I open the book, but you sign your name instead?"
"Will it work?" Holly said with hope in her voice.
I answered, "It's worth a shot."
The day passed slowly as we prepared our plan. Right after lunchtime, we had a secret meeting at the Enchanted Forest with the one and only, Blondie Lockes. Blondie and I were close friends, she came by the Tower Hair Salon (where I have a part time job) every week. I swear she's definitely a princess, those golden lockes say everything. Blondie had also inherited her mother's ability to pick open any lock with ease. Which meant she could open Headmaster Grimm's office, so we could get to the Storybook of Legends. Before we could tell Blondie any of this, we had to make sure she would never ever after say a word about this chapter. "Blondie, do you understand that this is just between the 3 of us? You can't say a word to anyone," Holly said.
"Ooo," Blondie replied, "This is getting juicy."
Then I said, "Blondie, you have to promise you won't tell anyone first."
Blondie nodded, "This must be important, but you have to give a bear honey from time to time. If I can't report this on my MirrorCast, what shall I report? It gotta be just right, not too boring, not too common."
Holly spurted out, "Well, all the princesses are having a vote on which prince is the most Charming of them all. You could host a vote for all of Ever After High, that's bound to be hexcellent news."
I quickly add, "And it'd be greater news if Daring lost. Just think about all the viewers you'll get!"
"Deal, that sounds just right! Now what do you two need from me?" Blondie said.
"Well," Holly began, "Can you unlock Headmaster Grimm's office at exactly midnight tonight? It's important, but confidential."
Blondie thought about it for a second, "Confidential, eh? Fine, but I hexpect another piece of news every week for an entire month, this is really risky! Even worse than being caught in the Three Bears' house."
The day passed easily, and at night we prepared what we would need. Sleek, comfortable pants and tops and a pair of sneakers. We would go at 12:05AM, right Fter Blondie unlocked the door. This way there was a less of a crowd and less sound. Thank goodness, the headmaster had his own seperate tower to live in, so he never slept in his office.
We went and sure enough the lock had been picked by Ms.Lockes. We tiptoed inside, there was a spooky feeling. It was weird to be in the headmaster's office at midnight. We turned a right after we saw his grand desk and there in a glass case was the Storybook of Legends. Since it was technically Thronecoming already, as soon as we approached it the case dissapeared. Here goes nothing, I told myself in my head.
"I am Poppy O'Hair, daughter of Rapunzel, and I am ready to pledge my destiny," I said in a soft whisper.
Holly's eyes went wide as a gold and purple key appeared. It had a "brick" texture, with flower and vines climbing towards the top of the key. A braid wrapped itself around the beautiful object, it certainly felt heavy. I slide the key into the big lock and turned it. I saw my destiny flash before my eyes. A white quill appeared in front of me, but I stepped back. Holly came forward and grabbed the quill, nothing happened. She signed and gasped, I guess she saw the destiny she always desired. It was now hers. RIght before the book closed I saw her signature:
Holly O'Hair
She was now the next Rapunzel and we had changed fate together.
