Chapter 5: Deep Sleep

Holly and Poppy were adjusting to life at home, they oficially graduated Ever After High and were now learning to be ladies of the court. They were princesses of Corona after all, and one day they would take over the throne and the kingdom. It was a huge responsibility, so they had started coming to Rapunzel and Eugene's weekly meeetings to see things hands on. "It's hard, but your mother taught me everything on how to be a king," King Eugene would tell his daughters, "I know I have raised two wonderful queens."

Nanny Nona, the girls' nanny had welcomed them, their rooms were spotless and the people of Corona itself had held a festival to welcome back their princesses. The castle had tall cream walls, burgundy and purple carpets and tall velvet drapes. It was just as Holly and Poppy remembered it. Their mother's artwork displayed everywhere, from long nature scenes to horizontal potraits, they were everywhere. The grand spiral staircases was one of Poppy's favorite features, when she was just a young nursery rhyme she would slide down the curved banisters of the stairs. Back then she sported long floorlength hair, which always got in her eyes when she played. Poppy was wild, and energetic, never being able to sit still.

Holly on the other end of the wand, was a quiet girl who busied herself with formal activities. She enjoyed reading and writing and soon started writing her own short stories. She was the model child and wanted long, long hair.

One faithful day, Queen Rapunzel and her twin daughters were spending time together in the lounge. Rapunzel's appearance had aged over the years, with a few wrinkles on her smiling face. Her green eyes showed her maturity and her pink lips always grinned at the sight of her family. Instead of the beautiful golden lockes she had in her teenage years, the queen had a short bob cut of brown hair. Rapunzel kept it that way mainly because when she had long hair it meant she was still controlled by Mother Gothel.

The three women were sitting down together and watching a movie with caramel popcorn and milkshakes. "Isn't that actor great? It's like he was born for that roll!" Holly chided at the end of the film.

"Did you know he's already 56?" asked Rapunzel.

"You've got to be-"

"Kidding me!" Poppy said, finishing her sister's sentence.

Rapunzel shook her head before handing Poppy a golden box. When Poppy opened it, she squealed in delight. Inside was 1 ticket to Poppy's favorite concert, which was happening tomorrow. Next, the kind mother handed Holly a matching golden box, inside filled with a voucher for a store that sold beautoful hair accessories. Holly almost fainted, she loved that brand.

On the next day, Poppy went clothes shopping to get ready for the 4 hour long concert, and Holly started picking out hair accessories. She had also booked a spa appointment to get a manicure and have her hair washed. The strawberry blonde lockes would have to be in perfect condition before trying on the new clips, combs and headbands.

Black or hot pink? Poppy thought to herself. Time had flewn and it was soon time for Poppy to go, in both hands were two fairy different outfits. One had black jeans with silver sparkle studs at the ends, along with a dark purple t-shirt with a velvety texture. Then a black leather jacket with studs at the shoulders and dark purple ankle boots with three silver buckles. Paired with a wine red scarf and a matching beanie. The hot pink outfit consisted of bright hot pink ballet flats, black fishnet stockings and a hot pink long sleeved dress with a shiny, black leather belt adorned with silver studs. The sleeves were made of thin black mesh, with the hems of the dress having black fabric, like oozing black paint. There was a silver pendent with a silver sun, the sign of Corona and several silver bangles and small silver hoop earrings. In the end, Poppy chose the black outfit and started doing her makeup, silvery glitter eyeshadow with dark red lipstick and some blush.

On her way out the door, a carriage came by. Out came Holly, carrying a shopping bag and looking fresh and happy. "Have fun, sis!" she said before returning to the castle.

"I will, see you later!"

Holly's P.O.V.

After a day of shopping, going to the spa and running into Apple White and ending up having an apple pie and latte with her, I was drained. I set my bag down and a kind maid name Lori picked it up and put it on my bed. I headed to the bathroom, washed off my makeup and sat down at the parlor, which was like a fancier, smaller living room. A fire was already burning and I turned on some music, that came out of the speaker. Then, I sat down in a burgundy armchair with a white pillow. The door opened and in came Nona. "Hello," I greeted with a smile.

Nona smiled back, "It's good to see you, Holly, dearest. I brought you some tea, you must be tired from a day in those heels."

She looked down at my 3 inch heels which were pastel pink with flowers covering the straps. I nod and take the tea cup and blow on it. Nona simply smiled and left after she set the teapot down at the white table. I drank the tea, and it tasted so good! It made me feel warm and healthy, but I also felt really sleepy. I went to my bed, and flopped down, without having dinner, changing or showering. I was so tired!

Rapunzel's P.O.V.

Holly had come home and Lori told me she felt really tired and already went to bed. Eugene was out today, he had went golfing with his friends and told me he would come home late. He was probably out drinking, but I knew I could trust him.

I myself went to the parlor and found a teacup and teapot already there on the table. That was nice since I felt like tea right now. I poured myself some and took a few sips, it tasted great and soon the entire pot was drained. I let out a small yawn, gee, I felt tired and headed to bed early. I could always have a big breakfast tomorrow, but right now the only thing I wanted to do was head to bed and rest. I was just so sleepy, that tea really calmed me.
