A Proposal

It's been almost a month. Nagito had moved out of the cottage next to Gundham and Sonia the very next day. The bulk of his belongings still resides in his old cottage, but the most used, most important things were at Hajime's. They had spent the night at Nagito's cottage maybe three times since Halloween. But as it happened, they had not spent a single night apart.
Nagito had all but forgotten the bad side of his luck. He was happy. He wanted nothing more than to stay like this forever. Every so often, a nagging thought would creep into his mind. You are putting him in danger. He can not survive your luck. Then Hajime would hold him, chasing away any doubt that this is where he belonged.
The fall festival kicks off tomorrow. Hajime woke up early, sneaking away from Nagito to check again if it is still there. Next to their favorite reading chair, in the drawer.  He reached in and lifts the small purple velvet box from its hiding place. Yep... tomorrow... tomorrow you will have a new home. He took another good look at its contents and smiled.  All of his hard work will be worth it, once he gives it to its rightful owner.

Are you certain this is what you want?

            Yes.
More than anything... this is what I want.

              I wish to protect you,
But I know now, that is impossible.
You will fight me every step of the way,
              If I object to this.

He is no danger to us.
                Why can't you accept that?

                 Physically, you are right...
                 He poses no danger.
But I see it every time
                  You look at him...
He is dying, and when he does,
                  That will kill you.

Which is why I need to let him know
How much he means to me.
I would like it if you were able to
Accept him, but even if you don't,
It will never change my mind.

                     Understood.
I can accept your feelings for him.

                     Thank you.

Nagito woke up, stretching his arms across the bed, to find only empty sheets next to him. "Hin?" He called out, looking around, waiting for his sleepy eyes to focus.
"I'm here, Ko." He said, returning the box to the drawer. "It's early. You can sleep a bit longer if you'd like." He said returning to sit on the bed next to him. "Those must have been some nasty ones last night." He said, brushing the hair away from his face. "You almost kicked me out of bed." Nagito shifted slightly, feeling uncomfortable. "Do you want to talk about it?" Hajime asked, rubbing his back.

Nagito shook his head. "No." He said quietly, looking away. "It was nothing." This last part was barely above a whisper.
Hajime smiled sadly, turning away. "Ok. When you do, I'll be right here." He said turning back smiling.
"It's always the same." Nagito said. His eyes focusing on nothing. "I die. Then Akira and Uta talk to you about some sort of deal." He said looking into his eyes again. "Then that thing... comes to life." He stopped a moment as he was remembering it. "No... wait, there was something new." He said grabbing Hajime's hand. "World Destroyer was gone." He said quietly.
Hajime lifted his head and looked at Nagito confused. "What do you mean, he was gone?"
"You went into the library, tried to boot up World Destroyer, and it said it didn't exist." His fingers tightened around Hajime's hand.  "Why does that bother me so much?" He asked, almost to himself.
"World Destroyer brought you back to me." Hajime said, looking down. "He is important to both of us."
Nagito nodded with a smile. "So what are you up to today?"
"Helping set up for the festival, lunch with my favorite person in the whole world, hopefully some cuddles...."  He shrugged. "The usual."
"Your favorite person?" Nagito said with a smile. "And who would that be?" He looked over at him, eyes gleaming. "Do you have a date with Izuru again?"  He ducked out of the way just before the pillow that Hajime was holding came down, hitting the headboard instead.
"Oh, you're asking for it now!" He said, reaching out with both hands tickling him in the stomach.
