"Is it really going to happen?" Luke asks, pressing his face into Ashton's shoulder.
The boys are crowded around the computer, looking at some email.
I'm interested, but hang back, casually sipping some water and listening to them talk.
I love seeing them all together. They look so happy when they're around each other.
It makes me smile, and some water dribbles from my mouth.
"Hey, quit drooling." Michael chuckles, wiping my chin with the sleeve of his flannel.
"I wasn't drooling."
"Sure you weren't." He slings his arm over my shoulder and leans back against the wall with me.
"We've got another deal." He says.
"Really? What's that?" I ask.
"We're eligible to go on tour!" His eyes light up. I can tell how much it means to him. But I feel a pang of sadness in my chest. I don't want them to go.
"Really? That's wonderful! For how long, with who?" I smile and try to act excited.
"Well, it doesn't say exactly how long the tour will take, but it starts in a couple months. And I think it'll be the best experience yet."
"That's amazing, Michael!" I plaster a huge smile on my face.
I know I should be happy but I don't like when they go.
They leave me here alone to work at my boring job and clean up after myself and be bored every day.
I'm already done with living alone.
Thank god I have good friends who help me.
"Whatcha thinking about?" Michael brushes some hair behind my ear, giving me a gentle side hug.
"Nothing. Just zoned off I guess." I turn around and smile at him.
"Well, we better spend plenty of time together now that we have it. Before you know it I'll be so far from you." His hand drags down my spine and rests on the small of my back, and his other hand goes to my shoulder. He pulls me into a big, cuddly, embrace. A tear slowly drips out of my eye, just because I know I'll take this short time for granted and will be separated from him sooner than I know it. I wipe my eyes as he lets go, and he gives me a sloppy smooch on the lips.
"Don't you go yet." He chuckles as I pull away, and tugs me back over, sitting me on the counter and kissing me again, his soft lips planted firmly against mine, his hands wandering down my back, my waist, my thigh.
He smiles, and I giggle.
"You two are disgusting." Calum says, causing Michael and I to look up.
"Really Calum? I haven't even gotten started yet." Michael smirks, and I hop down from the granite countertop.
"Please don't get started." Ashton smiles, but I can see the protection in his eyes.
"Don't worry, Ash. Mikey's not going to be obnoxious anymore. Right, Mikey?" I put my arm on his shoulder.
"Fine, I'll knock it off." Michael opens the fridge, taking out a can of soda.
"Go be obnoxious somewhere else. Get a room. Have fun." Luke chimes in from the office chair at the computer.
"Don't get a room." Ashton chuckles.
"Don't worry, we don't need a room. I have a better plan." Michael grins, taking my hand and my brother's; leading us outside.
