Reading And Writing

Life Isn't About Finding Yourself. It's About Creating Yourself.

~ George Bernard Shaw

To some, reading and writing are boring, but considering this is on Wattpad, I'm assuming most of you don't think that.

However, the type of reading and writing I'm talking about isn't fictional or smut. Yes, I know what all you are up to ;)

I mean something emotionally pleasing, or mentally relatable. Whether it's a book of poems or a book about self-confidence, reading a non-fictional book every now and then is a great way to learn something, as well as relax.

Now, I'm not saying you should pick up a textbook and read one chapter every night.

I myself have books of short poems. (Epigrams) Most of them are by Rupi Kaur, I highly recommend it. It isn't at all time-consuming, nor doesn't it need any amount of commitment to read. I tend to read one or two poems every night before I go to bed.

Writing

When I say this, I mean journaling. Now, none of this is a necessity but merely a method to opening your mind.

I try to journal every night. I keep one journal for just a daily check-in, one for therapeutic purposes as well as a good old fashion diary. Having three journals may seem a bit much, but I don't write in them all every day.

Daily Check-In Journal

You can set this up any way you desire. Mine is set up with each page asking the same three questions for a month, then switching to a different set.

For Example:

Decembers questions were ~

1. What's something good that happened today?

2. What's one positive thing you thought?

3. What's something that you need to work on / change

This month's questions are ~

1. What small thing happened today that seemed perfect?

2. In general, how was your day?

3. What are three things you want to do tomorrow?

It takes only five minutes a night to answer these questions. It's definitely something I recommend.
