PARTY FOOD IS COMFORT FOOD

Summary:

Buck avoids his apartment like the plague. abuela comes over to help cook and find the menu for the party. and Eddie goes to work alone. we'll see how the day turns out.

Notes:

It was freezing in Texas when I when I wrote this. so, I might have been high on cold medicine. I do have to put a TRIGGER WARNING for this chapter if you are uncomfortable with that it's understandable

He hasn't talked to them in like 6 years but now that Maddie is having a baby, they care to have a relationship. They know nothing about him. Yes, he lived in their house, but he was never their son. He was always an afterthought.
He grew up learning the only way to get their attention was to do something dangerous and get their anger to treat his injuries and sometimes they wouldn't even notice the broken arm or black and blue bruises all over his arms and face that they caused. He stopped considering them as his parents after the first rib cracked. So how would he ever consider talking to them?
Buck thinks to himself as he sits in the Diaz household. Looking around at the dozens of photos that the Diaz boys have with buck. They were his family.

POPS: How are you doing?
POPS: Eddie said you weren't feeling good. How long has it been since you slept?
POPS: Are you having nightmares again?

Bobby was worried. He knew he would keep texting if he didn't reply. But what do you say over text?

BUCK: Sorry pops. The people I lived with while I was a kid want to see me.... And also, they were so distant that I would harm myself to get their attention.

No, he can't put his baggage on bobby. He has been the only father figure he ever had. He can't ruin that.

BUCK: yeah, I have a migraine. Be better tomorrow. No worries. I missed Bobby Frittata Tuesday.

POPS: I know you're making them next time. Feel better kid. Text me if you need anything.

And with that Buck felt a little better about this morning phone call. But he had more important things to worry about.
Like the food for the party and luckily Eddie's abuela had agreed she would make the food because and I quote " Evanito I can make the food for the party it is for Christopher. You and Edditio have enough to worry about."
so abuela was gonna come over after their shift to make food for them and they would decide what was good for both the kids and the adults. But now that buck was staying home from work he had time and truth be told he could use the distraction. So now that Chris was spending the morning with Abuela she would come over in an hour to drop off christopher. And just need some evanito time according to what eddie had told buck.

At like 10 he heard the key in the door and got up to open the door for Chris and abuela.
Bucky, I'm back from Abuelas, says Chris in the doorway.

Hola Evanito, por que te miras triste ( hi evan why do you look so sad)

I'm not sad, abuela just missed my superman.

Buck goes to hug Chris trying to push down his sadness that clearly shows on his face.

Ay Evanito si quieres hablar estoy aquí por ti. ( aw Evan if you want to talk i'm here for you.)

Si abuela i know but i promise i'm fine. Chris, why don't you go play your game while I hang out with abuela. You know, grow up talking.
