yo what's up by the way THIS GOES OUT TO @Wyvern001 They gave me the idea of Starla's little mini arc okay enjoy!
also, minor TW: Starla's intrusive thoughts are a little uncomfortable in this part, just be aware okay?

Clove's Pov:

When we reach the bottom of the monastery steps, we all stop.

"Um, if you want, I can Airjitzu us up there?" I offer.

"Sure. I mean, that's better than walking all the way up, right?" Grale responds.

I grab Starla first, and spin us both up into a whirlwind of pale green and cloudy white. We reach the gate and I touch down. I use a cloud to boost myself off the top of the mountain and free fall down. Slowing my fall with a few clouds, I land next to Grale. Silently, I drop him off next to Starla.

When I reach the ground again, I feel my wound begin to ache again. It's fine.

"It might be easier if you do Spinjitzu and I drag you up that way," I say. He nods. Spinning into a golden swirl, he drifts towards the base of the staircase. I whip into Airjitzu and catch his stream of Spinjitzu. I pull us both upwards.

When we are high enough, I drop him and land lightly beside Starla. Sensei opens the gate and lets us in. I make my way towards the dorms, wincing with every step. The orange-golden sun sets behind me.

---

I lie awake in my cot, my cheeks still wet. Sighing, I sit up. Glancing over at Starla, I feel a pang of regret. I'm sorry. I hope to see you again. I stand, and trot to the door. It opens without a sound. Quietly, I climb over the monastery wall.

Falling lightly onto the grass on the other side, I wince. The clouds below call to me. The wind howls in my ears. I sit on the edge, the only thing holding me in place a fistful of grass. The breeze blows steadily, pushing me back towards the monastery. I squeeze my eyes shut and clench the ground harder.

I can still hear him.

--

Starla's Pov:

I wake up to a scuffing sound. The door closes and then it's dark again. You are probably dead right now and dreaming this up. Looking at Clove's cot, I can barely make out that it's empty. Panic settles in. Dead. Gone. Again. I swing my legs over the side of my cot and bolt out the door.

When I reach the gate, it takes me a few tries to get over, but I make it. Grale hates you. On the other side, I see Clove sitting on the edge, gently shaking. I land hard on my feet and walk over to them.

"Clove? Are... you okay?" I ask, gently so not to startle them.

"Hey, Starla," they respond, nearly inaudible.

I sit down next to them. Grab them and jump off. No one will care. "Um, what are you doing out here?"

"Just... looking at the moon. It's full."

I look up at the moon. The breeze blows through my long hair, reminding me of...

"Yeah. It's beautiful."

They swing their legs. Clove wouldn't even care if you fell off. Try it. I sigh.

"It-" I start, but they interrupt me.

"Don't even try. It was my fault," they say dejectedly.

I glance over the edge, my head tilted forward. Suddenly, I begin to slip.

---

Clove's Pov:

I hear it happen before I see it. Starla's shrieks echo in my head. Without thinking, I hurtle myself over the side. The wind whips through my hair as I pick up speed.

"Clove!" Starla's shrieks get even louder.

"I'm coming!" I shout over the pounding wind. I stretch out my arm, but Starla is too far away. I try to use my elemental powers, but it gets blown away instantly. The wind tries to slow me down. Stop it. I can handle this myself. I begin to fall faster. Starla comes closer and closer, but so does the cloud line. In an instant, we've both passed it.

I reach out my hand towards Starla, and finally, we grab hands. I pull her close to me. Okay, help me out here. The wind pushes harder and harder against me, but it only slows me down a bit.

"Okay, hold on tight," I yell.

Starla squeezes me harder. I angle myself so where I am almost parallel to the ground. I throw my arms out to the side, and try to slow us down with several layers of thick clouds. The ground is only a few hundred feet away. I let out a tear.

"Hey, listen. I was gonna jump off anyway. Don't feel bad. We can at least die together. Okay?"

"Yeah. But, I want you to know, I hope I see you in the Departed Realm. And if I don't... goodbye, Clove. I'm sorry."

I tense up, and clench my eyes shut. I don't hit the ground. In fact, we begin to rise back up. I open my eyes. Starla is glowing strawberry red, and we appear to be floating in a large, crystal pineapple. We shoot up towards the sky. In no time we land on the grassy field outside the monastery walls. Starla collapses onto me. I turn toward the monastery to see Sensei and Grale.

"I swear to the First Spinjitzu Master, next time you leave..." Grale says, running towards us. He pulls Starla into a hug.

Sensei and I lock eyes for a moment. I step back a few inches, teetering over the edge. A strong wind tries to push me back.

"Wait!" Sensei starts, but I've already fallen backwards over the side. I close my eyes and let myself speed towards the ground. I sigh a sigh of relief. See you soon.

OKAY OKAY IM SORRY BUT IT HAS TO HAPPEN EVENTUALLY  yeah i hope you liked this part enjoy your day/night bai❤️
