"I'll start then..." I say before grabbing the small plunger-like tool designed for pulling out dents. I edge over to him while kneeling. I try not to look at his face and just focus on the task at hand. "Shit, this is nerve wrecking." I feel the warm sensation of stress wash over me in a sweat. I place the tool to the dent without looking up and firmly press down so that the suction is strong. "Alright now just gotta pull this out..." I pull the tool swiftly and the dent comes up evenly. "Nicee" I congratulate myself. He didn't even move a muscle.. er.. wire... "Now for the dirt. This shouldn't be too hard." I try to reassure myself. I haven't said a single word yet and neither has he. That means I must be doing just fine. I reach for the damp cloth next to me that he brought to wipe off the dirt smudges. I move my hand towards his chest and gently begin wiping of the stains. As i'm doing this I take notice of the distance between us. Im kneeling right beside him, inches away. "Well this is unnerving" I think to myself before glancing up. "?!" ... Our eyes immediately meet. He was... looking at me? For how long? Surely he must have glanced around the same time I did. Why would he be watching me like that?? Man these things are creepy. I look away quickly and I finish wiping of the dirt smudges. I'm sweating now. "Right, paint time." Can't be so hard as the dent chipped off just one color on his chest plate. Just need to get this over with and hopefully I can get out of here, finish my tasks, and get the hell home. I grab the paintbrush on top of the small yellow paint can and open up the can with my other hand. I dip the brush in and carefully move my hand to the dent, making sure not to let any drops fall. "Shit. My hands shaking." The dent is on the edge of the yellow design on his chest plate. If I shake too much, I might go over the line. "Come on y/n!! Get a hold of yourself! This is the last thing you need to do! Then done!" I try to reassure myself. "Stupid body why can't you just stay still for a moment???" Stress quickly washes over me again as I realize my body isn't listening to me. "Whatever, just need to try my best." I think to myself one last time before brining the paint brush to his chest plate. I'm still shaking, causing a nervous sweat to break out. I must be all red, I'm so hot right now from nerves. I begin moving the brush over the area with the chipped paint. My hand jolts from the high levels of stress and is about to go over the line when suddenly a metal hand gently lands on mine, guiding it away from the green area of his chest and over the remaining chipped areas. "?!" I freeze in shock at the sudden gesture and look up to see two red eyes focusing on our joined hands before slowly looking up into mine. Time stops for a moment. Seconds feel like minutes as we gaze at each other, his large, heavy hand gently placed over my much smaller one. Lightly enough as to not crush it. After what felt like forever he stands up and walks over to the somewhat cracked mirror in his room. He goes over the work as i'm left kneeling, frozen while I go over what just happened. "That was... weird..." It was off putting that someone like him acted so gently all of a sudden. Or maybe it wasn't so weird. He probably just didn't want the paint to get messed up... But usually he would say something berating to me. "Heh, maybe he actually feels bad. Can robots even feel bad? Whatever.. Maybe i'll get to finally leave now." I try to mentally change the subject but I can't help but go over the moment for whatever reason.. I don't know. "This will do." He says in his usual deep voice. "Now... i'm real exhausted from all that walkin'.. I need to charge. You're lucky. Go." He says to me. Fuck yes. I miss my bed so much right now. "Thanks!" I blurt out from excitement as i finally get to leave. Though I still have to finish work, it's better than being in here with him. He unlocks the door and I get up from the ground, making sure I have all my things. I glance at my watch. 5 am... I still have some time. Not too bad. "Take those supplies back for me, will ya? You will." He says and I obey, not wanting any more trouble. I pick up the supplies and head for the door where he is standing just by the left side of the opening. As i'm passing him he places an arm out blocking me. "Be careful on your way home." He says in a lower voice than before. "A pretty little thing like you needs to watch out for predators." He says with a light smirk. The sudden "compliment" flusters me. "Uh, yeah. I'll try. Thanks, I guess..." I say nervously before exiting and heading back to the main area. When I finally reach it it's like a giant weight off my shoulders. "Shiiit. That was really something." I say quietly to myself. "..." My mind keeps going back to that moment... that moment where time seemed to stop. "Ugh" I quickly shake my head to snap out of it. "I need to finish my work and get home. I could use some serious rest after today." I sigh before getting back to my remaining tasks.
