"So what's this about you having a son? Puffy mentioned it briefly but I never chased it up," I asked Ranboo, as we went to collect supplies for his statue near mine and Skeppy's mansion. My collection was growing, so at this point I found it fair to add him in along with his family. It had been... Well I can't quite remember the last time me and Ranboo had spent time together.

"Yeah! My hus- Tubbo and I found him in the Nether. We went on an adventure when I first turned up here. Mmhm, Tubbo and I found him there. Just a little zombie Piglin left wandering around on top of a chicken. No parents around, and he seemed skittish and scared. So we both dug him a hole to keep him safe and eventually came back for him." He said the last part a little sheepishly, and I didn't want to know how long the poor child had been left down there alone for.

"Holy muffin! That sounds intense!"

"It was! He almost- Well, you see, he almost died a few times when we tried taking him back home, aha. That was intense for sure. Just glad we managed to get through that alright. Oh, and we had to tunnel back too, so if you ever find random pockets of dirt we didn't fill back in, that's probably from us. Or... Or not. Or not, 'cause there are a lot of mishaps here I've noticed. Could be from anyone. No blame here thanks, on second thoughts. Yep, on second thoughts, no blame here thanks, aha."

I couldn't help but notice how unsettlingly nervous Ranboo seemed. I hoped I wasn't the cause. Maybe he was always like this? I should keep in mind to spend more time with him, just in case he needed anyone to rely on in the future.

"That story reminds me of the time we found Sapnap," I began wistfully.

"Wait you're... You're Sapnap's father?!"

"Adopted," I corrected. "But yes: as close to one as I could be." Of course I let Sapnap call me what he wanted, but for me, I saw myself as more of a father figure to the little guy. Well, 'little' compared to myself. I could tell he felt at home with me almost instantly with me being a fire-demon and all, and him being some variant of Fireborne. I had been worried, like I am at all times, that my looming height and menacing appearance would be a put-off for him whenever I shifted into something...less human. But I couldn't have been more wrong. When he was younger he'd love to crawl up me and said he got the best view of the entire world up on my shoulders in my demon form. It was quite endearing.

"Do you mind... Do you mind telling me the story? I'd love to hear it. Only if you don't mind."

I gave him a kind smile. Sometimes it was hard to remember just how tall the 7-foot-something kid was, when he got all hunched up and timid like that. We passed a random grass block which he quickly picked up and clung to, his anxiety ebbing slightly.

"Of course! I haven't told it in a while, just cause most people know by this point. But it makes me both a bit sad - but mostly happy after the times we've had together! - to think about, so sure thing." I cleared my throat as Ranboo and I settled into digging up some sand.

"It was a miracle, really, which is probably how it feels to you. Right?"

Ranboo nodded earnestly. "Oh boy, yes. It's been fantastic. A bit rocky, but yes: fantastic. Michael makes Tubbo and I really happy, and gets us to feel like a proper family."
