Chapter 2: The Argus Limited

'Keep coming...closer...' Salem stood before Kai with outstretched arms, as the dark haired boy, staggered towards her in a daze.

'You and I will be together Kai...soon...' Salem reached forward with her pale hands to cup Kai's face as he approached her. As he fell into her embrace, his dark hair shifted and changed to a snowy white, and then, his eyes glowed fiercely red.

Kai: "No!" He woke suddenly, startling Qrow who was seated on the bed on the other side of the car. Kai sat up in his own bed, holding his head in his hands, and Qrow looked at him worriedly.

Qrow: "Must have been some dream. You okay Kai?" Kai looked out the window, watching the scenery zoom past as the Argus Limited train rushed along the snowy mountain path.

Kai: "Yeah...I'm fine"

Qrow: "You say that but you look pretty shaken up. Care to talk about it?" Kai shook his head, "No...not really" Qrow sighed, "You haven't been sleeping much since Haven have you?" As Kai looked over at Qrow in surprise, Qrow added, "Come on kid, I raised you. I can tell when something's off. Plus, you slumped onto that bed the moment we set foot in this car" Kai sighed and slumped down on the bed again. He didn't know how to say that Salem had been speaking to him through visions ever since that night at Haven Academy, or that the visions were becoming stronger and more frequent. Also, that he was losing control of his powers as a result.

Qrow: "What are these dreams about? Is it something to do with Cinder or whatever happened down at the vault?"

Kai: "No it's not Cinder, it's..." he sighed again, "...it's complicated, okay?" Qrow shrugged, "Okay okay. Maybe we should go check on the girls, clear your head a little bit" Kai got up from the bed, shrugging as well, "Sure. Sounds good" The two walked over to Team RWBY's car, with Qrow grabbing two cocktails along the way.

Qrow: "Here, might help you relax"

Kai: "Thanks Qrow" As the two sipped their drinks casually, the approached the girl's car, which had it's entrance wide open.

Ruby: "Okay team, it's time for an official team exercise. Who wants to play video games?!"

Yang: "I'm in if you want me to kick your butt. Let me grab my scroll" Yang hopped down from her place on the top bunk and moved over to pull her bag down from the shelf. Almost immediately Blake hurried over to her side

Blake: "Here, let me get that for you" Yang Weiss and Ruby looked on in confusion as Blake pulled down Yang's bag before handing it over. Yang took her bag from Blake as she spoke, "Blake. You don't have to do that" Blake looked away, embarassed, "I don't know what you're talking about" Yang sighed before continuing, "I'm fine. We're gonna be fine. It's just gonna be a bit before things are back to normal. But..." Yang's lips broke into a smile, "...I am glad we're all back together" Ruby and Weiss both gave Blake warm reassuring smiles, with Blake smiling back at all of them.

Qrow: "How touching" The four girls turned around to see Qrow and Kai enter the room.

Ruby: "Oh, hey Kai, hey Uncle Qrow. You guys wanna play too?" Kai grinned, "I'd wipe the floor with any of you, any day"

Yang: "Oh it is on!" Just then, the train shook violently, making both Qrow and Kai drop their drinks.

Yang: "What was that?" Weiss and Ruby got down from their beds and Qrow ran over to look out the window.

Weiss: "Exactly what it sounds like" Blake's shoulders slumped as she sighed, "Just my luck"

Qrow: "It's not yours"

Kai: "Qrow..." Qrow left the window and hurried out the room, "Everyone grab your weapons. We're going topside"

The group climbed the railings on the side to reach the top of the train, and they gasped at the sight that awaited them. A horde of winged grimm; manticores; were attacking the train. Dee and Dudley stood in the middle of the swarm, weapons drawn, looking slightly overwhelmed as the manticores surrounded them. A particularly large grimm, which seemed to be leading the attack, landed on top of the train in front of the huntsmen, letting out a loud roar, which sounded more like a battle cry. This grimm was diffrenet from the other manticores. In addition to the feathered wings, instead of a stinger for a tail, this grimm had a large snake.
