Oscar: "Can't we just go back to bed?"
Blake: "If we're all so tired, maybe we should make breakfast?" The faunus girl and the farm boy sat droopy eyed on the steps in front of the house, groaning tiredly.
Oscar: "Do you wanna make it?" Blake sighed wearily, "Not really" As Weiss and Yang finished prepping the bike, Kai, Qrow and Ruby arrived with the two wheeled trailer wagon.
Ruby: "You guys got the bike ready" Without a word, Yang gestured weakly to Bumblebee.
Qrow: "Well its done now. So let's hook this thing up and..." he was interrupted by a loud pop and a hiss. He had casually rested a foot on one of the tyres as he spoke, and the other tyre burst suddenly. Everyone turned to Qrow, giving him accusatory stares, and he let out a low growl, walking over to the tyre to check on it.
Maria: "You people are just beacons for bad luck aren't you?" Kai turned to glare at the old lady, "Hey!"
Qrow: "Just let it go kid" He walked some distance away from the group and dropped down in the snow dejectedly, whipping out his flask and taking a big swig. Beside Ruby, Yang sighed, dropping down the the ground in front of the well, "I'm starting to think the universe just doesn't want us getting to Atlas"
Ruby: "It's just a flat tyre, I'm sure there's a spare"
Yang: "Not just that. It's everything. Storms, crashes, monsters..." she sighed, "I'm so tired..."
Blake: "Me too. It feels like we're always having to fight to get by"
Ruby: "Yeah, but that's what we signed up for"
Oscar: "We signed up to try and save the world, not just...delay the inevitable"
Weiss: "Last night, I couldn't stop thinking...why are we even going to Atlas?"The entire group went silent, as if pondering the question, and eventually realizing what Weiss was about to suggest. Ruby narrowed her eyes slightly, "Weiss. We have to"
Yang: "Why?" she slowly got to her feet, "Ozpin hid the relics behind giant doors, under enormous schools. But, how long would it take Salem to find a lamp in the middle of nowhere?" As Ruby stuttered, Kai spoke up from behind her, "You do remember that grimm are attracted to it right?"
Yang: "They might find it eventually, sure. But if we bury it, or just throw it down the well, it could take years. It might not even happen in our lifetime. But we could be done with it now"
Kai: "Okay. So you just wanna drop out"
Yang: "Don't you?" Kai shrugged and turned away from Yang, "I dunno. Just do what you want I guess" Ruby unhooked the relic from her side and held it in front of her. The rest of her teammates gathered around her, looking at her expectantly. Ruby blinked sadly and slowly walked over to the well, "I am...really...tired" She held the Relic over the well, her hands shaking. Suddenly, as she looked into the well again, she screamed, dropping the lamp into the darkness below.
Ruby: "No no no I didn't mean to!" She held her head in her hands as her teammates stood by with tired looks.
Weiss: "Ruby, it's okay..."
Ruby: "No, there's something down there, I saw it! It was looking at me!" Yang placed a hand on her team leader's shoulders, "It's okay. You just said you're tired. Now let's go" Ruby pushed Yang away from her angrily, "What's wrong with you?! We can't just leave! We have to go down there, we have to get the lamp back, ugh what was I thinking?"
Qrow: "All we have to do is fix this trailer. Hey farm boy, check the shed for a spare"
Ruby: "I'M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT THE LAMP!" Kai groaned, "Then enough with the noise, just go get it already" Blake sighed, "I'll go with you"
