A couple weeks after my little adventure, Mada-Sama and I were sitting in his office. He had told me to come join him for lunch when he left that morning, and I didn't want to disappoints him, so I showed up a little early.
"You were eager to see him, admit it," Kurama teased.
I completely ignored his comment and stayed silent.
"Naru-Koi," Mada-Sama called, forcing me out of my thoughts. I perked up and looked into his obsidian eyes. "I have a wedding gift for you. It's small, but I think you will appreciate it. It belonged to my mother. I may not have been the oldest, but when my other siblings passed before me, I inherited it instead."
He reached below the desk and pulled out a beautiful Tantō with the Uchiha symbol hand-painted on the scabbard. I took it from him gently, and unsheathed it, admiring the sharp blade.
"I will also give you some tips on how to use a Tantō if you would like," he added. I shook my head, and stepped back, determined to learn on my own.
Sadly, I couldn't hold it the right way, and had horrible butterfingers, to the point where every time I swung the blade, it either hit something I wasn't aiming for, or flew out of my hand and ended up embedded in a wall.
At one point, Tobi-Sama walked into the room at the worst possible moment when I was swinging and the blade flew out of my hand, whizzed passed his head, and buried itself in the wall opposite the door. He stared at me with wild eyes, disbelief shining brightly.
My face was burning and I could've sworn my ears were red all the way to the tips, as I went to retrieve the Tantō. I quickly returned it to the sheath, and set it carefully on the desk, backing away with my hands up as if it may decide to launch itself at me in retaliation.
"What's going on in here?" Hashi-Sama's voice rang through the room. I turned toward him and opened my mouth to speak, but Tobi-Sama beat me to the punch.
"Madara gave Naruto-San a Tantō and found that the boy can't even use it," he deadpanned. Hashi-Sama looked a little confused, so Tobi-Sama clarified. "Either the swings are wild and hit random things, or the whole sword flies out of his hands. I had just opened the door to speak with Madara and was nearly blinded when it sailed right by me and ended up in that wall there." He pointed to the new hole in the wall.
Hashi-Sama's eyes widened and flicked his gaze between the three of us and the hole, before he bust out laughing.
Mada-Sama scowled at him, while tobi-Sama simply pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. I, on the other hand, looked at him oddly. Why was he laughing?
"I don't think a Tantō is a good weapon for you," he wheezed finally. "Did you ever find out what your affinity was before you arrived here?"
I blinked befuddled at him before I understood and my face brightened. "Yeah! I'm a wind affinity! I was told that in my time, wind is a very rare affinity in Konoha!"
"That's perfect!" He clapped his hands excitedly. "My otouto knows some wind Justus that he could teach you!"
I stared at him. "How exactly would that help me master the matriarch Tantō in time for the wedding?"
"It won't," Mada-Sama broke in. "It will, however, give me an idea of what I can do instead." He stood up from his chair and started walking toward the door. "I'll see you at home tonight, Naru-koi." He kissed my cheek swiftly before leaving.
I placed my hand on my cheek as I watched him leave, a goofy grin on my face.
"I've never seen him actually be affectionate toward anyone before, you must be really special," Hashi-Sama commented, startling me. The tone of his voice didn't quite match his usual boisterous personality, but I shrugged it off.
