At dinner that day, Principal P.E.K.K.A was on the cafeteria podium.
"As you guys may have known, we will be going into battle in two days." Principal P.E.K.K.A began. Everyone chattered to the person next to them nervously.
"We will be handing out schedules at the office. If you want to be prepared, you can go get one after dinner,or whenever you prefer. If not, this is optional,so that's fine too." Principal P.E.K.K.A announced. A lot of people ate really quickly at this. Some even went to the office. Andrew was late. Beads of sweat were on his face.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Schedules are available at the office," Kevin replied, not looking at Andrew. "Anything wrong, little bro?" he asked.
"No,Kaden's not my friend but he was trash anyways." Kevin replied.
"I knew-I mean,sorry about that." Andrew said,half-smiling.
"I know you're happy,it's okay," Kevin said,cleaning up.
Then he walked out of the cafeteria without a second glance.
"Wait!" Andrew told Kevin. He did his speed boost.
"Nice speed boost," Kevin said with a smile.
"I'm sorry," Andrew said.
"For what?" Kevin asked,shocked.
"For being such a bad big brother." Andrew replied sadly.
"Who are you and what did you do with my big brother?" Kevin asked.
"Well,I said sorry, I'm going to go get my schedule now, chao!" Andrew replied with a flick of his ponytail.
"What does he mean?" Kevin asked himself. Then he added,"He knows Spanish too? How surprising!"
Kevin decided to go get his schedule too. Maybe Andrew would still be there. At the office,no one was there, except Vice Principal Giant Skeleton.
"Here for a schedule?" Giant Skeleton asked roughly. Kevin was scared by the tone of the vice principal's voice,so he nodded instead of replying.
He handed Kevin a schedule and said,"Reminds me of the olden days,"
"Tell me about it." Kevin muttered.
"It was a crisp, autumn day. We didn't have schools like this.back then. We were homeschooled by our mothers and fathers. But,battling was public. You would sign your kid up,no matter the age or the size." the Giant Skeleton began, yawning. "There were even kids who were 2! People were amazing back then, just amazing. I was paired up with Principal P.E.K.K,A, you see. I was very determined, but he beat me easily. I was heartbroken, but what mattered was I tried my best. And next year,I won. I beat a Princess Tower, which was very, very powerful. Me and Principal P.EK.K.A are now best friends, and well,it's amazing." he continued. Kevin felt really bored.
"Well,good-" The Giant Skeleton started, but then fell back asleep in his comfy chair.
"Hahahaha,he's a very deep sleeper," a robotic voice that belonged to Principal P.E.K.K.A laughed.
"Um,hello," Kevin said.
"Just asking, but are you going to Electro's concert? He's really good, I tell you." Principal P.EK.K.A told Kevin.
"Though Electro does get a bit boring after you've watched his tricks exactly 137 times." "Oh. I suppose I will, though." Kevin chuckled.
"Well, I better get going now." Kevin hurried off to his dorm, looking down at the schedule that the vice principal gave him for the battles. Then, he finally sat at his bed, and took a better look at the schedule.
He read,"
6:30AM-7:30AM = Intermission ( Vice Principal Giant Skeleton vs Principal P.E.K.K.A)"What kind of timing is that?" Kevin asked angrily. He continued reading.
"You will be fighting against another troop. (Mega Minion, musketeer, or goblin, depending on your range and if you can fly or not.)
If you can't fly, your opponent will be a musketeer or goblin. (Confirmation at match,)
If you can,then mega minion.
See you at the arena on the 25th!"
"This will be easy," Kevin said. "The bad thing is that it's in two days,I don't have much time to prepare," Kevin decided to go to his dorm and fell asleep immediately.
Less important classes were kept on hold and replaced with battle tuitions. One morning, Kevin woke up early. He wanted to practice some battling in the gym. He freshened up, ignoring the snores of other knights. He also glanced at the time. He only had half an hour to practice! He put on a hoodie, zipped it up, and hurried off to the gym. He heard someone grunting as he stepped inside. Kevin gritted his teeth. He switched on the lights, and there was his own brother, doing pushups.
"What are you doing here?" Andrew fell down in tiredness.
"I just wanted to practice," Kevin replied.Andrew pointed to a part of the huge gymnasium.
"There are some mats over there," he told Kevin.Kevin grabbed a mat and practiced his karate.
"Also, I have to ask you something. Do you think it's time to reveal our crowns?" Andrew asked politely.
"No. We could lose our only friends." Kevin replied coldly.
"I know, but our friends won't mind." Andrew stated sternly.
"Let's wait a week or two," Kevin muttered reluctantly.
"Okay, I guess," Andrew said, and they continued practicing. At lunch, Kaden asked Kevin,"Want to sit with us?"
Kevin wanted to say yes but instead he replied,"No thanks,"
Kaden frowned.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Yeah," Kevin replied, annoyed.
"Ok then, see you at Karate!" Kaden told Kevin."See you!" Kevin exclaimed.
Then, he went to sit with Andrew.
"That guy's annoying," Andrew said.
"Stop insulting my friends," Kevin muttered."You stop bragging about them," Andrew muttered back.
"Why are you so annoyed anyways?" Kevin asked.
"Because I wanted to do training alone!" Andrew replied angrily.
"It's not my fault, you should have told me," Kevin argued.
"Ugh, whatever," Andrew murmured, and got out of his seat to throw away his trash. That night, after dinner, Kevin was playing games on his phone. Suddenly, Vice Principal Giant Skeleton pushed Kaden into the room angrily. Kaden was in tears. Kevin glanced over, and frowned.
"I didn't mean to!" Kaden exclaimed.
"This is your new bed. Good, or after what you did, Bad night." The vice principal muttered in a heavy voice.
Kevin asked,"What happened?"
"My friend framed me for ditching dinner. Well, we all did, but he was the leader so I was kept away from my gang." Kaden replied sadly."Sorry," Kevin said, but Kaden was already snoring away. At that moment, Kevin's phone rang. It was Skeleton King.
"What does he want?" Kevin asked.
He declined the call.
"Guess I should get some sleep," Kevin told himself. That morning, Kevin didn't go for training. He headed straight to breakfast. He looked around. Where was Andrew? Kevin finally decided to look in the gymnasium, ignoring the rumbling that his tummy made. Kevin peeked through the front door of the gymnasium. Andrew was practicing his charge boost. Kevin didn't want to disturb him, so he quietly exited the gym and returned to breakfast. He quickly ate his goblinarios, two waffles, and a Hogurt. Then, he thought of something. He wanted to put his crown back on. He ran to his dorm, and opened the chest. His crown was laying there plainly. He happily put it back on, and ran to class. He ran into Kaden, who was chatting with his gang. Kevin was surprised to see them talking after what happened, but then Kevin realized that they were ignoring him.
"Guys, it's me, Kevin," he said, but no one listened.
Kevin felt heartbroken. He took off his crown.
"Guys?" he asked.
Kaden turned around and replied,"Oh, hi Kevin, what's that in your hand?"
"Um, my crown. You see, I'm actually the prince." Kevin hesitated to say.
"Why didn't you tell ME?!" Kaden asked angrily."I'm sorry," Kevin mumbled, but he and his gang marched off. Kevin was almost in tears. He just lost his one and only friend. He held back his tears.
