Some things are more demanding than sleep.
Some things are heavier than depression.
Some things are more dangerous than weapons.
Some things are crazier than schizophrenia.
Some things are louder than tornado sirens.
Some things are softer than the wind.
Some things are stronger than the Earth’s crust.
Some things hurt more than your pain.
Some things scream louder than murder victims.
Some things are faster than the speed of light.
Some things bleed more than the cuts in your arm.
Some things smile bigger than the Joker.
Some things clap louder than thunder.
Some things are deadlier than death, and livelier than life, and NO THINGS are MORE AWESOME than MY GOD!
When you find yourself worshipping in the shower,
In a shabby motel,
Where you’re staying to get away from that abusive relationship,
With a black eye on your face,
With a cast on your strong arm sticking out to the side,
With the pain of losing ten wisdom teeth and no drugs,
With your scars washing clean in the water,
With your hands lifted higher than your head,
Crying so hard that you can’t speak,
Screaming out words you don’t even know,
Jumping up and down on your bruised and burdened legs and your twisted ankle,
You’ll know how I feel.
And you’ll be amazed by the smile on your face.
