I wake up early in the morning and I stand up to see the boys on the floor still passed out. Hopefully, Dal will come today, and we don't have to suffer anymore. I walk outside and I go to the water pump in the back. I start to wash my face off and my hands. I run my hands through my hair and look around at the view from the back of the church. It's really pretty, so many birds, deer and any type of animal everywhere. I look down to see a grey, baby rabbit by my feet. I sit on the floor as it hops around me.
I laugh a little as it sits in front of me. I reach forward and I slowly pet its head. the rabbit makes sounds and I pick it up. I stand up with it and I walk back inside. I look at the animal in my hands and I smile "what do I name you?" I think out loud while looking at its "Minnie" I whisper, and I look through our food. I pull out a slice of baloney and I rip it in half. I feed one half to Minnie, and I eat the other.
I put Minnie down and she hops to the boys. She jumps on Johnny, and he wakes up quickly. I can't help but laugh at him as Minnie come back over to me "what was that" he says and stands up "just a rabbit! Calm down," I smile as Pony wakes up. I pick Minnie up as the boys come over "Happy birthday (Y/n)," Pony smiles and looks at him "Thank you, Pony" I blush slightly while Johnny nudges me. I look up at him as he smirks "stop it!" I whisper yell as he laughs at me.

Pony and Johnny are sitting on the floor while Pony reads Gone with the Wind. Minnie is sitting next to Johnny while I make myself a Baloney sandwich. Not my favorite but I'm starving. I sit next to Pony and look on as he keeps reading about bugs crawling on people. I shake my head "that's gross, man," I say, and he nods while he keeps reading.

It's been a few hours. We have walked around, played card games while the boys smoked like old men in a Blackjack game. But we settled down and Pony is reading again while Johnny is blowing smoke rings into the air. Pony says something about being gallant and Johnny smiles."Gallant, reminds me of Dally," he says, and I look at him.
"Dally? Shoot he aint got no more manners than I do!" Pony says, "Soda is more like them, southern boys."
"Yeah, sure no manners, but Dallas..." Johnny starts and Pony cuts him off "Dally scares me." I shake my head as Minnie sleeps on my lap. For the rest of the night, we are just read Gone with the Wind. This birthday wasn't so bad as I expected it to be honest. It would have been better if we were at the Curtis house.
I remember my past birthdays with them. We would either stay home and watch Mickey or go out to eat and steal things from stores. Those were fun times. I want to go back home to the boys. I can't wait till Dal picks us up and we can go home. But the bad thing is Johnny will have charges pressed against him and he would have to go to jail.
I don't want to see my brother in jail. I don't want to be left alone with mom and dad. I'll be the one thing they have to take their anger out on. By the time he gets out, I'll be beaten to a pulp by them. I start hyperventilating a little and I look at the ceiling trying to calm myself down at least a little. Dal will pick us up soon, I know it. Johnny won't have to go to jail, and we can roam around freely again without worrying about the socs anymore.
I close my eyes and I start to fall asleep while the boys whisper to each other about the book.
-Time Skip-
I wake up earlier than usual and walk outside to look at the sunrise. As I walk out, I see Pony and Johnny already outside talking. I walk up next to them, and I lean on my brother while looking at the sky. "Too bad it can't stay like this all the time," I mumble and keep looking up."Nothing gold can stay," Pony whispers "Nature's first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold, Her early leaf's a flower, but only so an hour." He says and looks at us "Then leaf subsides to leaf, So Eden sank to grief,"
I look at the sunrise "so dawn goes down to day, nothing gold can stay." I whisper and Johnny looks between us "that's what I meant" he says shocked "how do you know that?" he asks, and I shrug "I saw it in the orphanage a while back when Pony was saying it, I remembered."
Johnny nods and I move closer to Pony while Johnny yawns and goes back to bed. I rest my head on Pony and we both keep looking up at the sky enjoying the moment. He drapes his arm over my shoulders and neither of us speaks. Just us and the sky in our little moment. Again, with the butterflies. What am I going to do?
Pony sighs and looks at me. I can feel his eyes on the side of my head. I look up at him and he smiles "(Y/n)" he mumbles, and I blush "I like you" my eyes widen, and I feel the butterflies explode. "I like you too Pony," I say, and he looks at me surprised "are you serious?" he smiles, and I nod. He hugs me and I hug him back.
"I want you to be my girlfriend," he says and looks at me. I smile and nod again "okay Pony," I giggle, and he hugs me again.
