Chapter 2

December 12, 2022 - TTA in London, UK

     AGENT DAVID Loel walked into the doors and strolled right over to Ryan. "So, what's the mission today?" he asked. Ryan pulled a folder from his cabinet and handed it to him. "Britain, UK," Ryan started, "April 21, 1643." David examined the folder. "This is another small mission?" he asked. "Yes," said Ryan, "You're to check up on Agent Pride and to make sure Oliver Cromwell is alive." This made sense. Agent Pride did go on the "no-return mission," as it was nicknamed in 2020, to never come back just the day prior.

     Agent Jarodson walked into the door after David left for 1643. "Folder," he said. Ryan checked the cabinet and saw an interesting folder. "Your mission is to save David from an attack on July 16, 2013," he said, reading the file. Jarodson was surprised, "That's the day he's recruited," he said, shocked, "Why was I assigned this exactly?" Ryan shrugged and said sarcastically, "What would you think if your future self appeared in front of you and said the overused words 'I'm you from the future'?"

     As he touched the door knob to his time car, Jarodson felt a stabbing pain in his back. He looked into the rear view mirror and saw a masked individual he couldn't identify. He died there in the parking lot. Another agent, Agent Tanen, saw the masked person and shot them down.

April 21, 1643 - Britain

     Agent Thomas Pride was at the town next to their camp. He was going for a walk through the town with all the townspeople strolling the streets and trading goods in the marketplace. An explosion occurred inside of an abandoned shed near Agent Pride. Planks and hay inside of the shed shot through its windows. Agent Pride ran over to see what's up. David was getting onto his feet and brushing off the hay. "David?" Thomas asked, dumbfounded. "Geez, Thomas, you leave for a day and then you look like it's been 2 years or something," David joked. Agent Pride just smiled and said, "It has been two years."

     David then got serious and said, "Look, I just came to say that more time terrorists could show up, meaning you won't make it home." Agent Pride was saddened, but he felt like this was meant to happen because of the video he saw back in 2020 and made when he got to 1643. David handed Agent Pride a cheeseburger from his favorite restaurant. "I knew I couldn't leave without giving you something from the future," David said before disappearing in a bright flash. Agent Pride enjoyed the gift.

December 12, 2022 - TTA in London, UK

     David walked out of the machine as it powered down. Good ol' room 1209. He noticed his picture on the wall wasn't his. It was Agent Charles's. David was confused. Didn't Agent Charles not make it to the agency because David made it ahead of him by 2 points? Agent Charles walked in, scanned his card, logged in the date and place, and warped out. David went to Ryan for help, but he was escorted out the building for trespassing. David ran to his designated parking spot. It was a 1983 DeLorean because of course Agent Charles would pick that one. He got inside and almost inserted his own key, which was not for DeLoreans. He looked around for a key until he found a spare key in the glove box. He cranked it up and knew exactly where and when to go.

     He primed the time displacer and the car sputtered and refused to warp. It was an old model, of course. Old models required the vehicle to go 88 miles an hour before it could warp. He floored it, the car skidding in place for a second until it gained traction. Angry agents went into their cars after him. David went around the parking lot like the movie, gaining speed until he hit the 88-mph threshold. He disappeared in a flurry of blue streaks and orange sparks. The cars chasing him screeched to a halt. Agent Christian got out of his car and pulled down his shades in awe of the trail of fire that remained. His partner, Agent Grian, also got out. "What is it, Agent Christian?" He looked at him and said, "That's no civilian."
