Chapter 48 - Insecurities

Daphne's POV
I woke up in Mattheo's warm arms. I missed this. Everyone else was asleep, well i thought everyone was asleep until I looked up at Mattheo to see him awake.
"Hey, did I wake you?" He asks softly.
"No, why are you up?"
"I- I didn't go to sleep last night"
"Why"
He just looked at me.
"Oh" I said placing my head back onto his chest.
He pulled me in closer almost suffocating me, but I didn't care. I wanted to be close to him and never leave his side again.

After a few minutes, a nurse came over seeing everyone else there. She was mad I could tell but she didn't do anything about it. She knew I would rather be with my friends than alone.
"Hey Daphne, how are you feeling?"
"Better, I guess"
"Ok, how did you sleep last night"
"Fine"
"Ok well I have good news. You can go back to your dorm today, I know it's quite soon but I think you would be more comfortable there."
"Thank you" I say before she leaves.
"Did you hear that?" I say smiling. "I can leave today!"
"I know" Mattheo says chuckling at my excitement.

We all walked to the common room together. Mattheo kept his arm around me the whole time one because he felt like he had to protect me and two to keep me balanced, I was kind of struggling to walk. I nearly fell over.
"Right, come here" Mattheo says picking me up bridal style and continued walking.
As we walked into the common room, all eyes were on me. They were just staring and I hated it. I felt so self conscious of my beaten face. I jumped out of his arms and ran to my dorm shutting and locking the door behind me.
"Stop fucking staring" I could hear Mattheo shout before running after me.
I couldn't handle being stared at knowing what my face looks like. I was so insecure about my face now, I feel like people would judge me. I slid down the door after locking it and just started crying uncontrollably. Everything that happened came flooding back making me relive it. I couldn't breathe.
"Daphne open the door!" Mattheo said trying to open it.
I slowly stood up hyperventilating and unlocked the door. He swung it open and saw the state I was in. He pulled me into a hug and stroked my hair.
"Shh take deep breathes" he said softly.
"I-it's not working" I say pulling away and grabbing at my neck.
He was panicked, he didn't know what to do. Suddenly, he grabbed my face and kissed me. I knew why, it was because when you kiss someone you hold your breathe and that helps with panic attacks which I think I was having. He pulled away and looked in my eyes as I looked in his. He kissed me again this time passionately and with hunger, like he craved me.
"Oh god I missed that so much" he said pulling away and placing his forehead on mine.
"Me too"

I had been in my dorm ever since the incident earlier. I didn't want to come out, I didn't want anyone else to see me like this. The whole time Mattheo and I have just been cuddled up in my bed. We didn't talk much, just enjoyed each others company. It was time for dinner but I didn't want to go, I wasn't hungry either. I told Mattheo to go if he wanted to and that I was going to be fine but he wouldn't leave my side, I don't think he will for a while. I don't mind that but I don't want to restrict him of doing anything.
"Are you hungry?"
"No" he says as his stomach rumbled.
"Are you sure?" I laughed.
"Maybe a little"
"Ok" I said getting out of bed "let's go"
"Are you sure"
"Yeah" I say holding my hand out for him to take.
We walked to the great hall hand in hand. I was really nervous but I'm going to have to be around people and they're going to have to see my face some day. We walked in as Dumbledore was making an announcement making him come to a stop. I just stood there for a while with everyone's eyes on me as I would take a few deep breathes before walking over to my seat. I sat down and all my friends just looked at me while I just looked at Dumbledore as he continued with his announcement.
"Please stop looking at me" I sat quietly as I looked down at the floor.
Everyone said sorry as Mattheo placed his hand on my thigh trying to comfort me. Dumbledore finished his announcement and everyone started to eat, everyone except from me.
"Hey where we're you? Are you ok?" I asked Draco.
He has a bloody lip and a new black eye.
"Don't worry, I'm fine" he said going back to eating want to avoid the question.
When Mattheo started to eat, all our friends gave weird looks to each other. I was so confused.
"What's wrong?" I asked making everyone look at me.
"Oh Um nothing" Abigail says.
"No, what's going on?"
"Nothing Daphne promise"
"Why are you lying to me"
"Im not I-"
"Yes you are!"
Everyone was silent for a minute.
"Daphne" Mattheo said making me look at him. "It's nothing don't worry about it"
"Bullshit" I shout getting up and walk out of the hall. Everyone was looking at me but I didn't care at that moment, my friends were keeping a secret from me and I want to know why.

I was in my dorm on my bed just staring at the ceiling when I heard a knock at the door. I didn't do anything, just stayed still. There was another knock but I still didn't do anything. The door slowly opened.
"Hey" Abigail said.
"Stop talking to me like I'm a child"
"Sorry um are you ok"
"Yes fine why"
"It's just-"
"It's just what?" I say standing up walking over to her.
"I umm-"
"What Abigail!"
"Why are you shouting?"
"Because my friends are keeping a secret from me about my boyfriend may I add and I want to know why!"
"I can't tell you"
"Why!"
"Because you just got back!"
I gave her a confused look.
She sighed. "Daphne, we can't tell you just yet. We just got you back we don't want to hurt you"
"What did he do?"
"What?"
"Mattheo, what did he do?"
"What do you-"
"Did he cheat on me?"
"What no I-"
"So what happened!"
"He hasn't eaten since you went missing!" She shouted getting fed up, covering her mouth shocked she just said that.
"What?" I asked getting watery eyes.
"I'm sorry I-"
"Hey" Mattheo said walking in seeing me crying.
"Woah what happened"
