Chapter 57 - Dumbledore Pt3

Daphne's POV
He slowly turned around and looked at all three of us. It was silent for a while until we heard a cackle to the right of us. We all looked to see Bellatrix.
"Come on Daphne" she said walking up to me. "Kill him" she says placing her hands on my shoulders and whispering in my ear.
My eyes were starting to water, I didn't want to but I wanted to live.
"Come on, Malfoy. Do it already!" James says stepping out of the shadows with Laim.
"Fuck sake do you two really have to be here for this?!" Mattheo said angrily.
"Chill out, it's fine" I say.
I look at Dumbledore and he just has a straight face, it's like he's been waiting for me to kill him or something. It's weird.
"Do it" Bellatrix whispers in my ear. "Do it now"
I slowly raised my wand, shaking.
"Daphne you really don't have to"
"Shut it boy, your father wouldn't appreciate you trying to sabotage a task" she says with her wand under his neck.
"I'll do it" I shout. "Just leave him alone"
She looked at me then back at Mattheo. She chuckled a little while removing her wand with a smirk and standing next to me.
I raised my wand again, still shaking. I'm really not prepared for this. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I flinched as I looked back to see it was Pansy.
"It's ok. You can do it" she says with a soft smile. She knew I didn't have a choice and that I had to do this. She understood that and that made me happy, happy that I knew my best friend still had my back. I looked back at Dumbledore and he still had that straight face. I hated it. What annoyed me most was that he didn't seem scared to die or anything.
"I'm so sorry" I say with a single tear trekking down my face.
"Avadda kedavra" I shout as Professor Dumbledore falls off the edge of the astronomy tower.
As he was falling, all I could hear was Bellatrix's Witch cackle.
"Shit!" Pansy says.
Mattheo just gave her a dirty look.
"Sorry"
I just stood there, frozen for a minute with my wand still in the air. Then it hit me, I just murdered Dumbledore. Me, Daphne Malfoy just murdered someone. I was shocked, shocked I actually went through with it. I started to cry and fell down onto my knees.

Mattheo's POV
She started to cry and fell down onto her knees. She did it, she killed Dumbledore. I quickly ran up to her and hugged her. I felt so bad, I never wanted this to happen. This is going to ruin her I know it, I just hope she knows I'm here for her. We stayed on the floor for a while just hugging, and trying to comfort her.
"I'm sorry" Daphne paused. "I should've listened to you"
"Don't be silly" I said placing my hands on her cheeks and making her look at me. My eyes started to water as I saw this broken girl in front of me, mascara smudged down her face and tears falling down her face. I hated seeing her like this.
"You had to" I say wiping her tears away with my thumbs.

She fell asleep in my arms, she was exhausted after everything. I picked her up bridal style as Bellatrix and some other death eaters were talking.
"Is she ok?" Pansy says catching up.
"Well she just murdered someone what do you think?" I whisper.
"Right"
We were silent the rest of the way.

I placed her onto her bed and pulled the duvet on her. I caressed her face and kissed her on the forehead. I quietly started to walk away to the door before I heard a voice.
"Stay, please"
I turned back to see Daphne looking at me and sat up on the bed.
"Ok" I say softly.
I walk back over to her and get under the covers with her. She placed her head on my chest and I placed my arms around her. She quickly fell asleep after that. But I couldn't, I was up all night thinking how I could let this happen. I was supposed to protect her from everything and everyone and I have failed so many times. I wouldn't even blame her if she didn't trust me or want to be with me anymore.

Daphne's POV
I woke up to see Mattheo just staring at the ceiling.
"Are you ok?" I ask rubbing my eyes.
"Yes of course love. I should be asking you that" he says looking at me and kissing my forehead.
"I'm fine" I say getting up and going to get ready for the day.

We walked into the common room to see all our friends sat on the couches talking.
"Good morning love birds" Enzo says smirking.
"Took you long enough" Abigail says.
We sat on the couch and started talking.
"Pansy, Daphne why are you two so quiet?"
We looked at each other than back at the others.
"I'm just tired" I say
"Same"
No one else thought anything of it, everyone went back to talking. Suddenly, a 3rd year came running in and shouted that there was a really important announcement about to be made in the great hall. Me, Pansy and Mattheo looked at each other knowing what it was about. We quickly rushed to the great hall and sat down in our seats.
"Be quiet" Snaps said.
But no one could hear him, everyone was being extremely loud.
"Silence" he shouted gaining everyone's attention and making everyone shut up.
"I have some bad news. It is with my regret to inform you that Dumbledore has been murdered earlier this morning"
There were many gasps and everyone started talking again. Professor Mcgonagall came up to the stand and gained everyone's attention again.
"We will be conducting an investigation therefore classes will be cancelled for today"
"Fuck" Blaise says.
"I mean I know we all hate the old bastard but who would kill him?!" Theodore says.
I felt so guilty. My eyes slightly started to water. I know if anyone knew what I did they would hate me.
"I know right, he was a bitch but there was no need for him to die!" Abigail says.
I quickly shot up and ran out of there. I hated being there and hearing all the things my friends think about me. I ran outside into the courtyard and sat down against the big tree near the black lake while silently crying.
