Croix Castle late August

A child walked through the dark corridors of Croix castle To try to find something fun to relieve my boredom even though she's not allowed to leave the dark and gloomy nursery at the bottom of the palace, not usually allowed to wander the castle alone without a nursemaid beside the maids never raised an eyelid at the young child the patterning of little feet echoed the marble floors.

"I've never been to this part of the palace before. It looks so strange. Hopefully, I can find my auntie, Rosie. She's the only one that plays with me when no one barely paid any attention to me."

Lucina thought to herself, her long white chemise dragging on the floor and wearing a light blue sleeveless kirtle over her cotton chemise, her long dark hair tucked into a bonnet.

As Lucina continued exploring, she found her grandfather's study room. The door was half-opened. She was curious, wondering what types of treasures she could see. Her tiny hands opened the door further and stepped into the excellent study room. It was dark with a long mahogany table in the centre and the shelves filled with old books and essential documents. The room was huge compared to her tiny, frail body

" Lord, the grandfather, isn't here; there's nothing to be scared of." Lucina thought to herself. She stepped inside and explored the drawing-room opening up the draws to find exciting things to put in her vast collection of random things. She would mainly discover her favourite rocks she would find in the gardens. As she was distracted flipping through a book, she didn't notice the figure behind her, his angry face and white piercing eyes towering down the three-year-old child.

" You insolent little brat goes into my study room without my permission". The duke screaming at the top of his lungs

Lucina stopped what she was doing and turned around to see her grandfather, the duke of Croix, and her dark eyes filled up with tears.

" I'm sorry, grandfather, I didn't mean to, I just wanted to go Explore". Lucina said in a trembling voice.
The duke hit his cane on the marble ground that echoed like a crash of lightning, making the young child shake in fear.

" Out to anything God had to give another rat of a girl I have to take care of you are goddam lucky you little Vermin of a child if your father sends me the funds to care for you if he didn't I would think of lock you in an Abby away from society, Both you and your mother are just prophetic as each other. The world would've been better if you and your mother just died," as the Duke Of Croix was about to lift his cane to strike her.

"Stop".

A voice yelled the Duke out his cane down as a woman with platinum blonde hair stood between the duke and the child.

"Rosetta, what the hell do you think you're doing". The duke yelled furiously, but Rosetta kept a stern face trying her best to be strong of Lucina.

" My lord father, please, she is a small child she why would you try and beat her when she isn't yours But Riftans and it Illegal for you to beat a child that's not your own". Rosetta said in a firm voice.

The duke stepped back, perplexed it was rare for Rosetta to stand up against her father, but she didn't have to heart To see Lucina hurt by her father. Still, she was often forced to witness her older sister Maximilian beaten by her father's cane to show an example she didn't want to see Lucina suffer like her mother did, even if it would risk her life. The Duke of Croix looked at Rosetta and Lucina with piercing eyes, then clicked his Tongue and sighed.

"Fine, it'll let her off this once if I catch her in this room again next time. The brat won't be so lucky and will suffer the consequences".

He once again hit his cane on the marble floor. Rosetta took Lucina in her arms and ran through the castle hallways and down the stairs. As they went into the Nursery, Rosetta put her down and couldn't help but hug her as she cried, tears coming down her pale face.
