PoV. Travis

I sit there, staring at the wall filled with crosses. Father is in the living room, in the middle of an conversation with someone and doesn't want me in it.

speaking of, he just bursts in my room and tells me to dress up as we're going to a dinner, and he wants me with him somehow. I go to my closet and pick out a white long sleeved shirt, and a baby blue sweater on top. Then I take light gray jeans and white shoes. I finish it up with my golden cross necklace.
I take a look out of my window, Father is already waiting, so now I got to rush.

---

The car stops at a fancy looking restaurant. We hardly ever go out eating, especially not in something this fancy! It's almost fully white, with yellow accents.
Without asking I follow Father out of the Car into the restaurant, and watch him sit down to a table next to a female. She looks a bit older then me, but not much.

I sit on the other side of the table to him. The female wears a light purple dress, with white gloves, she also has a white clock on her wrist.

'Hello Travis, it has sure been a while since the last time we saw each other' she looks at me, who is confused. I don't think I know her? 'I'm Violet, your cousine. I'm the daughter of your Mothers sister' She smiles, but It looks pressed and not real. 'Nice to meet you, Violet.' I nod my head as greeting, since she sit's next to father on the other side of the table.

'Travis, please greet her as your new Mother.' Father chuckles.

MOTHER? Didn't she just say that she's me cousine? What about your missing wife, my real mother?

'M...Mother?' my voice stutters due to the shock.

'Yes, mother. I saw her this morning and immediatly fell inlove, so I paid her parents to marry her.' He rubs her thight, I can see it slightly, and she forces a smile. Her face says "help me" but we both know I cant.

Apart from that she's my cousine, the age gap is huge. She's maybe about 24 or 25, while he's well over 50 years old, almost 60. Even if they are not biogical related, this is still something to worry about.

We all order something and eat up, before we get in Fathers car and drive home. We didn't share a single word after the news earlier in the restaurant. I still hope this is a sick joke or something.

I'm still in the process, that my Father is possibly marrying my cousine, I didn't even know I had. And even though I want to help her, I know I cant do much, neither can Violet. Father is a strong man, he could easily beat us up, may even kill us.

And he's a well known, respected man too. He has enough money just in case, to win in court with it.

So the only hope is, that he is going to treat her good, but if he doesn't even treat me, his biogical son not to well, I don't have much hope this is going to happen.

'Travis, go inside and prepare the house. Me and your mother are going to get her stuff.' He smirks at Violet, which gives me bad vibes, but I do as he says and get out of the car. I feel Violets eyes watching me go inside on the back of my head, while Father drives to her old house.

As Father demanded, I clean up the whole house, even the attic which we only see once or twice a year. Heck, I even sorted his socks to color and shade, but that's basically just from dark to bright, because his socks are white, black and gray.

I go downstairs to the kitchen and look through the cabinets, when the doorbell rings. Father never rings the door, so I go up and open it. Nobody was to be seen, weird. But when I look down theres a box, on it theres a note:

"Mr Phelps told us to get the best chicken in town, and some other things to it. signed, Family Jaison" Oh, the woman who brought me food when Father was off? Oh god...

But I brought the box inside anyways, even due that I have a bad feeling about it. I place it on the counter and open it.

Surprised I stare at the chicken, my jaw down in shock. The chicken was indeed big and was still fresh at some point, not moldy. Wow, she impressed me honestly.

Next to the chicken are some smaller boxes, I'm guessing some side dish or something.

---

I carefully place the chicken on the dinning table, next to some vegetables and a good sauce. I'm impressed of myself, how good it looks! Guess I got better over the years.

Just in time. The front door unlocks, and Father stubles in, hands full of boxes, so many that they reach over his head. His Keys holding only by his fingers with troubles. 'Go help your mother with her boxes!' he demanded annoyed.

That's when Violet comes in, also Hands full with boxes, a bit more than Father. She struggles even more then Father did with his, but what do you expect, she is a decent build, slim woman, while Father is mascular, and a bit thick.

I shake my head to stop daydreaming and go over to Violet. She mumbles a 'thank you' exhausted and out of breath as I take the boxes from her, and wow they are heavy. But she still grabs one box for herself, a smaller one, with holes in it. It seems more important then the others.

I place the boxes next to their bedroom, and received a 'good job' from Father.
Maybe it is turning better with Violet moving in. Maybe he's becoming less harsh, and more soft as he really does love her. I mean, he even helped her bring the boxes inside!

I go past Violet and downstairs, to prepare for dinner.
Yes, we did eat in the restaurant, but it's important that dinner is on the table, always. Father insists so, even if we throw it away afterwards.

Shortly after placing the last fork on the table, Father and Violet come down, both have changed while I... still wear my babyblue shirt. Now that I think about it, the color reminds me of something... I see eyes, ocean blue eyes... nono. Travis, stop. That sounds gay.

Father wears a dark grey sweater, with a white collar underneath and light gray pants. His pale skin makes it look even darker and deeper, while his blonde hair softens up the look. His dark brown eyes lay on Violet.
She wears a light yellow, midlong dress, a white necklace around her neck and a little bit of makeup. Her black, slightly curled hair matches her dark blue eyes. She has tan skin, just like me but darker.

Her figure and face remind me alot of mom. I guess it runs in the family.

'go change and sit down with us. Violet has a present for you.' she smiles, and this time it's a real smile, soft and calming. I go back to my room and throw on some decent clothes, nothing to casual. And again, a cross necklace, but a white one this time.

I go back downstairs and see the small box Violet hold earlier on the table infront of my seat. I sit down and see the exited face of Violet, which motivates me to open the box.

Inside of it, I see a dark brown, sleeping puppy, in a blue blanket. My jaw drops, I look between the puppy and Violet. The Blue blanket... Stop.

---

After Father eat a bit we all go to our bedrooms. I go up to the closet and change into nightwear, then I sit on my bed. That's when I noticed something lieing infront of my door.

'Dear Travis, I know how weird and confusing this situation must be. I've been in an abusive household too, you must know. But no matter what, we are family, not son and mother, but cousins, maybe siblings if you'd want to. I promise, I'm going to find a way to divorce Kenneth and get custody for you, somehow. Love, Violet'

I smile at the short letter. Hope flames in me, hope that I might finally get away from Father. I take it and rip it apart, then throw the rest out of the window.
Father is not suppose to find it. Ever.

This is a secret between, heh, siblings
