"Oh, the habits of my heart,

I can't say no

It's ripping me apart,

You get too close

You make it hard to let you go"

The new sparring deck was up and her dad and Daniel were bowing to each other, before turning to their students.

Sam and her dad were the first two people to spar. Their movement was measured and organized.

Then it was Miguel and her dad who fought. Their movement was aggressive and quick.

Maeve tilted her head. This might actually work out better than she anticipated.

Her dad put on some pads and a helmet to cover his face, before stepping back onto the sparring deck. Both Daniel and Johnny showed them some moves on each other.

Johnny imitated Daniels signature crane move, making the man shake his head with a smile as he walked away.

"Come on, what's up?" Johnny asked him with a smile.

Maeve snickered, exchanging a glance with Miguel, who happened to catch her eye at that moment. Maeve looked away first.

It was now their turn to spar with their Sensei.

Maeve was really excited to fight with her dad and it went quite well.  She could tell that Johnny was happy with their fight.

After everyone got to spar, they decided it was time for a break.

Maeve sat down at a rock, taking out her sandwich.

"Hey, can I sit down?" Miguel asked, pointing to the spot next to her.

Maeve looked up at him perplexed, but nodded shortly after.

He sat down, his arm brushing against hers as they started to eat their sandwiches in silence.

"Look, I really want to make it up to you, okay? I don't want it to be awkward between us, or get between you and your dad." Miguel said, turning to face her.

"I don't want that either, but you heard what my dad said the other day. Talk is cheap." She replied, still not looking at him.

But that didn't matter to Miguel, who smiled slightly. He was glad that she wasn't yelling at him anymore.

Sam send them a worried glance from the other end of the dojo, sitting down with the others.

Maeve got ready for dinner at the LaRusso's place.

She'd be lying if she said that she wasn't nervous. The blonde didn't like most of the people living in that house and they knew it.

Maeve put on a red dress with white polka dots that was a little more on the fancier side, but she didn't want to feel underdressed.

When they walked out of the door, they noticed that the Diaz family was already gone, so they quickly got into Johnny's car.

Luckily it was Mr. LaRusso who opened the door for them and not Amanda.

"Hey! I'm glad you came. Sam and Miguel are upstairs." Daniel told her, while he and her dad made their way into the kitchen.
