"I'd rather be a lover

Than a fighter

'Cause all my life

I've been fighting

Never felt a feeling

Of comfort

All this time

I've been hiding"

Her smile quickly disappeared as she watched Kenny run away every time Robby tried to come at him.

"Let's run it again. I'm not gonna make contact. All right? But that means you have to stay in the fight. All right? Bow." Robby explained to him.

They bowed to one another.

"Fighting stance." Robby continued.

"Elbows in." Maeve corrected the boy, putting his elbows in the right position.

"Remember, always look your opponent in the eye. Ready? fight!" Robby yelled as he lunched forward.

Kenny stepped back again. Robby then threw a series of kicks and punches at him, before pushing him up against a fence.

"I'm not sure I buy that you're Shawn's brother." He told him, looking frustrated.

"Well, Shawn was always big and strong, okay? All I can do is run." Kenny told him honestly.

Maeve pulled the sleeves of her jacket over her hands. She could relate to the younger boy in so many ways. Robby was always the stronger one of them both. He was the one who fought for them, while Maeve was more forgiving. She didn't want to fight, but she had to learn it anyway, just like Kenny.

"Instead of using your speed to run away from your enemies, use it to run at them." Her brother suggested.

"Come on, let's try it again. Let's go. Let's go, come on." Robby told him. After that it went a little better, but she cold tell that Kenny was still scared.

As Robby went to use the bathroom, Maeve decided to cheer the younger boy up and gave him her number.

"I know how you feel. Robby was always tougher than me, but I had to learn how to defend myself too. Text me if you want to talk or try out a different style of karate. We younger siblings have to stick together, right?" Maeve asked as Robby came back.

Kenny smiled at her. "Thanks. Both of you." He addressed them with a smile.

They said their goodbyes and continued walking down the street.

"You know, I can really see where he's coming from. You were always my protector and it was really weird and frightening when you weren't around. I guess I didn't really realize it because I always had friends that supported me, but on the inside I was just as scared." Maeve blurted.

Robby looked at her in surprise. "Of course, you're my little sister. You're my responsibility, I'll always protect you." Robby confirmed, with a smile.

Maeve gave a smile back. "I know and I'm really glad, but I want you to take care of yourself too. I can protect myself now, so you don't have to worry about taking care of me anymore." She tried to tell him.

Robby frowned at that. "I know that you can protect yourself, I've seen it at the dojo with Kyler. But I know that you don't like it and I don't like seeing you get hurt or anything like that. So I'll do it anyway." He told her.
