"Honey something came for you in the mail. Something very thick that I don't wanna open because it's not mine but I'm going to if you don't come and take it from my very anxious hands." I here Ma call from the kitchen as I sit down at the table.

I rush into the kitchen and take the envelope. It reads:" USB; Regarding Amelia Wright."

I almost shriek with joy right then and there but I don't wanna be ecstatic just to know I didn't get in. So I just keep a straight face.

I open the envelope take my slow time reading it because I don't want this moment to end.

Whether I got in or not.
I just want it to be known that I tried.

That I didn't give up at the first sight of a mistake.

That I did this for myself and more.

I finish reading and I look up at Ma and my brother losing patience.

"Well what does it say"Ma and Jamal with a smirk building in the corner of his mouth say at the same time.

"I got in?" I say at first as quiet as a whisper and almost a question.

I begin to wonder if maybe they've made a mistake about this and lots more questions scramble in my mind.
"What?" Ma and Jamal continue to say in unison with wide eyes staring at me.

"I got in."

"I GOT INTO USB!!" I say louder at last with excitement building in my voice.

"Oh, I'm so happy for you Amelia!!!"

"Sabia que padrias hacerlo." But she says this in Spanish so I didn't get what she was trying to tell me.

Ma pulls me in for a hug. "Oh, I forgot. I said I knew you could do it."

"Look at you with your full-paid scholarship. See what happens you believe in yourself and try, Amelia. Good job, little sister. Even though I would like to admit that I applied before you because I'm way older than you." Ugh, him and his jokes. If Ma wasn't in there I would definitely give it go on who's the oldest out of the both of us. He makes such a big deal out if. If it matters that much he should go and shout it from the whole world or the Great Wall of China.

"Just make sure when were older and you're flowing in money, be sure to float me some of that money so I can experience some joy too!" Jamal says jokingly.

He smiles and the light seems to hit every inch of his smolder-crafted face. I guess him he takes after Dad with his looks because I mean, look at him.

Jamal does the same and gives me a big bear hug. And it's called a bear hug for a reason. The person hugging you squeezes the life out of you even thought it is on happy terms of expression.

I start to think something is missing and at that exact moment ma pulls my favorite ice cream from the fridge.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Well I have other favorites too but at that moment I didn't care. And I didn't know what to say afterward. About me getting into the college I wanted or about my favorite ice cream. I have everything I need around me and I need nothing more.

So ma fills it in for me. "I got it at the store while you were at school because I knew my baby was going to get in. Everyone in this family is smart and can achieve whatever they put their mind too. Congrats, baby." Ma finally says this in English because I still don't comprehend Spanish.

"Than..."

Before I can get a full sentence out, Jamal grabs the tub of "my favorite ice cream", grabs a spoon, takes a bug scoop and eats it.
