Enlightened (a Hermitcraft AU)

To Begin

Grian has started getting weird dreams as of late. Dreams about living on a different island with different friends with different things going on around him. Dreams that are filled with bloodshed and betrayal.

Finding himself remembering things from lives he didn't know he lived up until this point, Grian struggles to contribute to the Boatem Village and to work on his base. He still stocks up the G-Train and does his best to act as if nothing was wrong when among his friends, of course, but that didn't stop him from wondering what else he couldn't remember and whether or not he should let his friends know of the lie they are living in.

Time is ticking, the land is changing and Grian soon finds out that he may not have as much time as he thought he did in his new life.

Hello, all! I'd like to welcome you all to my first Hermitcraft fic! before we start, I need to let you all know a few things.

First: there are no ships in this fic. so don't even try to tell me which people should be with whom. they are real people with real lives and it's weird to ship them

Second: this is an AU. it is in no way meant to be accurate to cannon

Third: this is Grian and Scar centered. mostly Grian, but Scar is there a lot so I consider him a main character

Fourth: I am not too familiar to lore points that people seem to believe are cannon, this AU is made up of lore I came up with myself.

Fifth: I am currently rewatching Evo again for the first time since 2017 to get myself familiar with the Watchers, so please don't come after me if I do/say something wrong about them.

Now on to AU stuff!

The Admins are basically gods and are the creators of the world our main characters live in. They do not interfere and don't really have the time to worry about the goings-on in the world they made, so they created the Watchers to watch for them.

The Watchers are all-powerful beings who were angelic and good in nature. They have the ability to mess with the world they are meant to watch, but more often than not, don't. Mostly, they are benevolent and think that the people living in the world are adorable. Each Watcher also has an animal theme.

Next in the hierarchy is the Enlightened. The Enlightened are people who know of the existence of the Watchers and Admins. They are the only people who have this knowledge and can communicate with the aforementioned beings without them having to mess with the world first. The Watchers don't particularly like the Enlightened because the Enlightened tend to be a bit annoying. Any regular person can become an Enlightened, but this is mostly through time and also luck. No one is born with this ability

The regular people in this world are ignorant to any higher power and just go about their lives. They just kinda vibe. Except for one group. 

The Hermits are an experimental colony of people who the Watchers took from the world and placed onto different islands when they see fit (seasons). New Hermits are picked due to skill and personality. They have yet to be noticed by the Admins and are still thriving.

The Hermits each have a special ability, whether it be physical (wings, horns, body mods, etc.) or otherwise (telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, etc.). Their abilities do not have benefit the world around them and just kinda exist.

Each past season has been wiped from the Hermits memories and they can no longer remember it. they believe that they have left their previous homes to hang out with their cool new friends. They retain knowledge of their powers and each other, but that was about it.

Last Life and 3rd Life were another experiment, mostly for funzies, by the Watchers that has gone unnoticed by the Admins. The Hermits who participated in those series can't remember it and do not have the scars from it (they get scars from each death, though it's not really a death as they are still alive and well).

Chat is literally just a phone network.

There will be quite a few OCs on the Watcher side of things, by the way.
