"Where in the hell are we going?" I asked sitting in the back of my jeep as Ashton came to a stop. "Shut up and take off your blindfold dork." Calum said. We were sitting in the parking lot of my family's record company. "Why did you blindfold me for this?" I asked thinking they were just coming to record a new song. "I've seen you guys record like 4 times." I said confused. "That's where your wrong my lady. We are not here to record. you are." Michael said squeezing my shoulder that he had his arm around.
I walked into the recording booth with Michael sitting next to me with his guitar. "Michael I don't know if I can do this. No one has ever heard me sing." I said nervously. "You got this." He said smiling. Michael started strumming the guitar and I knew this opportunity could change my life.
Michael started by singing his part and playing his guitar and then I joined in. "A thousand miles seems pretty far, but they've got planes and trains and cars I'd walk to you if I had no other way." We sang together. Our voices seemed like they were made to go together. Michael didn't take his eyes off of me the entire time.
We finished and stepped out of the recording booth while all the boys and crew members clapped. "Lyric, you were born to sing. We will talk to Mrs. Johnson when she gets back from her funeral and call you when we hear her results. Thank you!" John the recording artist said. "Thank you." I said smiling.
Me and the guys walked out of my moms building while Mikey talked to John. "Oh my god Lyric you're amazing!" Luke said hugging me. "Thank you guys for bringing me here. It means the world to me." I said tears forming in my eyes. "We love you!" Calum, Luke, and Ashton said in unison wrapping me in a huge hug before they went to the car. I stayed outside waiting for Michael.
Michael ran up behind me and spun me around before sitting me down and kissing my head. "I'm so proud of you! You did it." He said smiling down at me. "I couldn't have done it without you." I said standing on my tip toes and kissing his lips. "Get a room!" Calum yelled out the jeep window. We walked to the car to head home.
When we got home the boys went downstairs to play Fifa while I stayed up in Michael's room. I put on some spandex and opened Michael's draw and grabbed the first thing I saw which was a flannel that had idiot written across the back of it. "What a dork." I said folding the clothes I had washed and sticking them in the correct drawers.
I had finally gotten use to living with Michael. It's like I had never left. I loved these boys to death. I had known them for a year now and they had helped me through everything! I couldn't have done any of this without them. They're my family and my friends. I don't have a father and I barely have a mother. I don't talk to my cousins and I don't have either of my grandparents. These guys were my everything.
I sat down on my bed to realize what an idiot I was. I missed my dads freakin funeral. I missed it. My mom went through it all by myself. Tears trickled down my face as Michael walked in. I quickly wiped them from my cheeks. "Is everything okay?" He said sitting next to me. I sat silently just looking into Michael's green eyes. I started crying again. "I missed my dads funeral." I said in between tears. "Lyric I-I'm so sorry." He said pulling me towards him. I layed my head in the crease of Michael's shoulder. He rubbed my back and just kept repeating everything is going to be fine. "I love you Michael. I'm sorry I left. I thought it was going to be better for us, but it wasn't it just screwed everything up." I said sitting up and looking down at my hands. "You didn't screw anything up. You're here now, just don't do that again. I didn't know where you went or if you were okay." He said pulling my chin up so I was looking straight at him. He kissed me softly. "Come on down here with me and the guys. Get your mind of some things."
I walked down the stairs behind Michael obvious I had been crying. "Lyric wha-" Ashton stopped mid sentence as I saw Michael shake is head no instructing them not to ask why I had been crying.
"Hey Lyric!" Calum said throwing a pillow at me. "Dork stop." I said throwing the pillow back at him and taking a seat on the couch.
I watched the boys play Fifa for about two hours when Michael's telephone rang. "Hello. Yes. Thank you. I'll let them know." Michael said hanging up. It stayed quit for about 2 minutes before Michael stood up and turned the tv off. "Lyric we are going on tour in 4 days." Michael said making me frown knowing I would be staying here alone for almost a year. The room was silent. I started to talk but he interrupted me. "And your our opening act!" He said pulling me off the couch. "What?" I said speechless. "That's right your signed with the same record and your coming on tour with us. You preform every show before us. 3 songs." He said in excitement. "Oh my gosh! I'm gonna be known. People are gonna know who I am! I said hugging him tightly. "Group hug!" Luke said as all 4 guys gathered around me. "I love you guys." I said smiling.
And that right there is what changed my life. I am going to get to spend a year traveling and singing with my best friends.
