It was just a stupid kiss,
The kind they show on TV all the time,
When your mom angrily tells you to switch the Channel,
Tongue and all,
But it meant nothing really.
A stupid kiss,
Isn't that what I had wanted for myself?
At that moment I said no,
It cut through the bitterness of the night,
'no'
'I'm not sure, so no.'
'I've never done anything like this before so, no.'
I said it in every way I could.
'No.'
I'm sure of it.
Then why do some not hear it?
It was just a stupid kiss,
My first stupid kiss,
I should've never wanted it to be perfect.
It reminded me of all those years ago,
The first time I said no,
I closed my eyes and let it happen,
So it would be over with soon.
It didn't matter all those years ago,
And it doesn't matter now, in adulthood, either.
I found myself saying 'no' only for it to be ignored once more.
No one hears it,
So I stood there as I had laid on the living room floor all those years ago,
And I took it like I had all those years ago,
Because I should not have forgotten that I'm already used to this.
I guessed 'that's what we're doing now, okay'
And it was just that,
A stupid kiss.
It shouldn't bother me this much,
How could I forget even for a moment,
No means yes,
And I'm convenient.
