When you let your mind wander

Wondering who it is that you are

Like holding the hand of a child and turning your back

You let their hand slip

Out of sight

Out of mind

Out of sight, out of mind

Children are to be seen not heard

Out of sight

Out of mind

When you let your mind wander

Like a cat straying too far from home, in an unfamiliar place,

Will lose homes' scent

When you let your mind wander

The cat will have found a large square window of a strangers house

Will sit upon their windowpane

Crying out into the coldness of the night

When you let your mind wonder

Your soul wanders outside of its body

Like a string to a ballon cut loose

Like a kite cut from its string

Plummeting onto the earth

And like carcass it soils the earth

When you let your mind wander

Like holding the hand of a child and turning your back

Even if just for a moment

Their hand slips loose

And they are gone

Out of sight

Out of mind

Out of sight, out of mind

Children are to bee seen not heard

Out of sight

Out of mind

Have you heard them say that the eyes are the gateway to the soul ?

When you let your mind wander

Your soul does so too

Taking  sight with it

[Have they told you yet, that seeing begins within the mind?]

And you become blind to foolery

Enslaved to the rhythm of this void

One too large, too endless to fill

When you let your mind wander

Like sitting in the movie theatre

The same film on repeat

Over and over again

To be seen not heard

When you let your mind wander

Your soul will stray much like the cat

And lose its way back home

The fragrance of home sweet home

Gone and forgotten

Now slave to the human god

A different kind of demon

And you're left empty

The carcass of a mighty king

Fallen

Empty

Empty

Empty

Luck works in threes

When you let your mind wonder

Like a smile that doesn't reach the eyes

Like crying tears that smear down your cheeks as bruises

Onto the curves of your lips

And onto the tastebuds of your tongue

Like a word you can't remember

On the tip of your tongue

Home sweet home

When you let your mind wander

Like holding the hand of a child

And turning your back, letting go

When you let your mind wonder like this

You'll spend the rest of your life retracing your steps

Retracing the moment you might've let go
