AN: OMG!!!! Thank you guys soooo much for 1K reads! When  I started this story I never imagined I would have so many reads! At one point I was even considering leaving it but then I realised how much I hated incomplete stories so decided to at least complete it....

Anyway. I will let you get on with the chapter. Enjoy!

P.S.: This has a lot of family stuff in it...

BPOV:

Nik was in one of his moods when we arrived home. It was generally not a pretty sight to see. Olly and Bekah were already there when we came back.

Looking at Nik, I knew they were curious to know what had happened after they left the Grill. I sighed.

"Nik, you need to calm down! Getting angry and pouty will get you nowhere. You should have known something like that would inevitably happen, considering you've been in town longer than I have this time. You should have predicted his behaviour."

"I'm not pouting, little swan! Why did you stop me, little Belle?"

"Nik.", I sighed heavily, "You know very well why I stopped you. I- I still can't bear to see him in pain. Even after all he did... I still love him."

"You are too good and pure for this world and him, Isabella. But I do not think I will be able to stop myself from beheading him if he says anything else of the sort he called you today. I shall endeavour to try though, love."

With that he kissed my head softly and went straight to his art room.

When I turned around, I was face-to-face with Kol, Bekah and my father. All of them looked mildly furious but also curious. I was very sure that they derived from the way Nik was fuming that something bad had happened after they all left the Grill. Also, when did father come in?

As if reading my mind he answered, "I just returned, little one. What was Niklaus talking about? Or rather, who was he threatening?"

"I- We- We saw Damon Salvatore at the Grill after you left today. Tatia's doppelganger apparently changed him and his brother as I just found out. Right here, in this town. Back in 1864. He did not look older than the last time I saw him as a human. Um... He may have said some unwarranted things to me in Nik's opinion. He almost injected Damon with his venom in anger when I stopped him."

Kol looked at me. Darkly asking, "What did he say, Isa? He must have said something bad to make Nik react like that."

I kept quiet. I knew that if I told them what had transpired, it would mean Damon's death. I was not entirely sure who would do it, but it would be inevitable. That was the last thing I ever wanted. It would probably be Kol, with the way his face transformed when I kept quiet.

Rebekah suddenly moved and wrapped her arms around me and started gently cooing in my ear. It was then that I realised that I had been silently crying. She softly cooed in my ear, "It's okay, Izzy. I will make sure nothing will happen to him. No one will do anything to upset you. This you already know. It will all work out in the end, little sister. Shh. It's okay."

It had been so long since I had any motherly or close to motherly affection. I felt so safe and warm in my elder sister's arms that I just clung onto her and let go of my tears like a little child. I hugged her tighter, and sensing what I needed, she brought us to a sofa and sat us down there. She hadn't stopped running her fingers through my hair since she first took me in her arms. She used to do the same thing back when we were human. Mother never bothered much about me, but Bekah had. She was the one who calmed me down when none of my brothers were able. SHe used to gather me in her arms and sing softly in my ears. I missed our little interactions so much. Becoming vampires had changed most of us.

Kol's question brought me back to the present. "I- I swear to you Isa, that I will not go after him. Please. Please, tell me- us, little sister. What happened after we left?"

It broke my heart to hear Ollie actually begging me to tell him what happened. So I did. I told them everything that had transpired between the three of us. It had truly hurt me when Damon still thought of me as such. I had hoped it was just Katerina's influence on him that caused him to be so cruel, but this was done without him being under the influence of anything. When I finally told them what had ticked Nik off, I was not surprised to see my father and brother plotting murder.

I was drained by the time I finished telling them about the event. When I looked outside the window, I noticed that it was already dark outside. Deciding to give up trying to do something now, I bid everyone a good night and retired for bed.

Third POV:

Niklaus had just come out of his art room, when he thought of checking on his youngest sister. It had been an emotionally draining day for her. Sure enough, when he neared her sleeping form on the bed, there were dried tear tracks on her cheeks. It angered Klaus to see and hear his youngest sibling in so much pain. It was clear that Isabella had cried herself to sleep. He just wished that the eldest Salvatore would not turn out to be an idiot after this. He hoped that the vampire would realise his mistake and try to correct it before it was too late. He just wanted to see all his siblings happy. Starting with the youngest.

He went to his room and thought about how many times he had seen Isa the happiest. Most of the times had included their youngest brother, Henrik. But he was gone now. And it was his fault that Henrik had died. He would forever carry the guilt with him. He didn't think it was forgivable what he had done.

He sighed at the turn of his thought.

Suddenly, there was a knock on his door.

"Come in.", he said after sensing who was outside.

Bella was the one who had knocked on his door. "Can I sleep with you tonight?", she asked with a vulnerability that they'd lost when they turned....Niklaus had missed having his little sister to care and protect, to reassure and just be there for.

No longer was she the little girl who he protected when thunderstorms roared across the sky, who whittled things for her. No Isabella had grown up and matured at a very young age.

He smiled at her and patted the space beside him. "Of course, little one. Come here."

She went closer to him and curled up beside him. He started humming a song that reminded her of happier human days from when Henri was still alive. Suddenly she felt a light breeze tickling her cheek. It was as if Henri could tell what she was thinking about and tried to comfort her. She smiled and fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.

Just before she fell into complete darkness, she heard Nik saying, "I will do everything in my power to keep you happy and smiling, little one. I could not save Henrik, but I will save you. Sleep, little one and let me take care of you. I am here now. I swear that I will not let any harm come to you."
