Anna POV
"Liam!" I yelled, reaching out for him.
This light...I haven't seen this before. Even in records there was no such thing. No matter how majestic this seems, it's definitely not safe!
Behind the white coating, I could feel something ominous. Something terrifying that no one could stomach. My instinct alone is shouting at me to run. But I must keep Liam safe! I won't let anything bad happen to my loved ones!
"Almighty Goddess, enlighten our eyes, clear our doubts, and the deceptions of our kinds!"
"Cancel!"
The suffocating light dispersed and evaporated.
It was my first time using that textbook skill. I'm glad it worked.
"Phu...that drained more than I thought it would."
Seeing Liam on the ground my heart dropped. I rushed towards him immediately and checked his pulse.
Thank god, he was okay. Wasting no time, I brought him to my bed and gave him medical attention. I need to make sure nothing was wrong.
Using my knowledge and the medicinal book I borrowed from the academy, I checked him thoroughly making sure I missed nothing.
Just in case, I casted another spell.
"Revered Goddess, lend me your strength. Protect the weak and heal the ones who were struck. Bring them to how they once were; the perfect creation of your beings!"
"Healing Veil!"
A translucent green mist appeared and covered Liam's whole body.
"Kauk!" I coughed and dropped down to the ground. Wiping the saliva at the side of my mouth, I smelt something metallic.
Remembering this familiar scent, I quickly checked Liam. This was the smell of blood.
As I rolled him slightly over to see his back, I saw my palm smudging a red substance to his clothes.
"...Blood?" It was mine.
Looks like it's still too much for me...
Healing Veil, a sort of protective charm. It's able to heal minor wounds automatically, but it uses a lot of mana since it's an intermediate spell but only lasts for a few hours.
And when using a spell far above the capabilities of your mana veins, it can be dangerous.
But it's a risk I'm willing to take.
Opening the heater, I sat down at my table beside the bed and waited.
Hours went by but he still showed no sign of waking up. I started to become worried.
What if he doesn't wake up?
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. I didn't notice it, but it was now day.
Is it someone from my workplace? But it's so early in the morning?
Staggering, I walked up to the door and asked, "Who is this?".
"We're the royal guards here for an investigation." The person stated as his partner forcibly tried to enter.
They started banging on the door suddenly, making my heart jump. How dare they! This is trespassing!
Timing the thumps, I opened the door slightly as they charged. The sudden distance made them slip.
As they fell down I grabbed and shoved them out and closed the door shut.
