A month later after she was discharged, fully recovered and has returned to work despite disapprovals from all corners, her life went back to normal. She went back to her bubbly and cheerful self, only her immediate family knew of her lose and she kept it that way, she didn't let the loss weigh her down.
Sandra did however notice one thing, Dare was noticeably closed off from her. Immediately both parents returned, he ignored her, although they had no fight and there was peace in the home, he felt like he was hiding something as he always received calls while speaking in whispers. Sandra would have thought nothing of it if some obsessive stalker wasn't on her tail, sending her messages almost every second. Abigail had promised to help her trace the blocked number and she was counting on her. She was scared but didn't let it show. Although Dare took care of her especially after what happened a month ago, she couldn't help but be paranoid.
She had the afternoon off and had decided to surprise Dare at his work place. Getting there, she was shocked to find out he was no where to be found, his workers said he had not been to work all week and it was Friday.
The level of her paranoia: 130 of 100!
She called him immediately she was out of earshot.
"D-D, how are you? I miss you" she said hoping he wouldn't hear the nervousness in her voice, she was not one to accuse someone without evidence and especially not Dare. She loved and trusted him too much to doubt him.
"I miss you too my love, I can't wait to get home so I can see your beautiful face. Hope you already had lunch?" The unsuspecting Dare asked, digging his own grave.
"I already had lunch, are you still at work?" She asked finally going to the main reason she had called.
"Yes my love, work is really busy today. I already had lunch, I will see you at home, an important document just arrived and I need to sign it" Dare already made his bed without knowing it, he would have to lie in it when he got home.
Sandra was surprised to hear the lies her husband was spurting. She was drive off his office building and he claimed to be at work. She laughed as she thought of how he said the words without stuttering. The evening was going to be war and she was ready for it.
She had told Dare when they were dating that if he cheated on her, they would break up as that meant he disrespected her. She wouldn't stay faithful to someone who was busy going from one lady to another in God-knows-where. She would confront him one more time and if he lied again, the marriage was over.
She would not let a man use her that way, if he could leave her for another lady only a month after they lost a foetus, only God knew what he'll do next.
The next few hours before he returned home stretched on and on. She felt like the universe was mocking her as she received another message telling her to check left side of Dare's shirt, that she would find a pink lip line which had been left with a kiss. She kept shaking her legs as she checked the time.
She was still in her work clothes and she was yet to prepare dinner. It was funny thinking of dinner as she might lose the man she loved in a few hours.
She tried taking a cold bath after waiting what seemed like a hundred years, it barely did anything to calm her nerves. She tried eating but that was a bad idea as she was so nervous she threw up everything she had eaten the whole day or at least what was left of it.
Finally she heard the gate clicking, signalling the long awaited person had arrived. She breathed in and out and opened the door to welcome him as usual.
Immediately he walked in, she hugged him and placed her head directly where she was told the stain would be found. Raising her head, she drew imaginary lines in that place and swiped what she could of the almost dried lip gloss. She smiled at him and had small talks as she walked with him to their bedroom. She didn't want anyone to hear of what was about to happen. Although they lived alone in the building but that didn't mean the buildings on both side had ghosts for tenants.
She took a piece of face wipes and wiped her finger, only a small pink for could be seen. She immediately stopped her husband who was about undressing.
"There is something on your shirt, let me wipe it" she said and used the wet wipe to swipe the Navy blue shirt which showed no sign of a kiss she would not have noticed if she hadn't been ripped off. The wipe had a pink blotch in it now.
"Dare what is this?" She asked her voice unusually low as disappoint and betrayal weighed on her. She sighed, gave him the the piece of wipe and sat on the bed not looking at him as she tried to process everything.
Dare was dumbfounded, he opened and closed his mouth like a fish. He was confused, no one would believe pink colour had washed off a blur shirt which had been badly dyed, pink and blue were so off.
He had been kissed in that exact spot before returning home and be was busted. He suspected foul play but he dared not speak as he was already in a hot seat. He had no other option than to resort to everyone who has been caught red handed favorite phrase;
"I can explain... it's not what it looks like".
