The next five months was a blur for Sandra, she sold the house in Edo state and quit her job. She moved permanently to her hometown in Delta state to be with her mother. She hadn't heard anything about Dare or Abigail and she was happy about it. She just wanted to live her life on a low-key and see where it leads.
"Sandra!" Her perfect weekend was ruined immediately she heard the voice she didn't want to hear, it was Abigail. She ran up to her, she was no longer pregnant, obviously she had already given birth months ago.
She gave a tight smile and continue with what she was buying. But that didn't send enough message as Abigail finally caught up with her.
"What a coincidence, I am here to visit someone and I ran into you like this, it must be fate" Sandra ignored and started walking out of the market.
"Sandra wait, I'm sorry for what happened In the past, allow the water under the bridge. We used to be friends" Sandra forced herself not to laugh. They used to be friends, they are not friends so she didn't have to listen to her rubbish.
"Please wait let me give you something. Here, this is my wedding invite, it's in two weeks, please attend. If not for anything, for old times sake". She threw the invite in the plastic bag Sandra held and walked away. Sandra kept looking at her until she disappeared into the market. For old times sake? What sort of rubbish is that?.
The rest of the week was ruined for Sandra, Abigail had obviously given her the card to mock her as she was getting married to Dare. Her mother was annoyed too, what sort of rubbish was that, she told Sandra to ignore it and move on with her life but Sandra had something else in mind. She would attend the wedding, she was invited after all. Despite her mother's protest, she prepared a dress and got ready for the wedding.
She expected something fancy and big and was disappointed to see it was a small church. It was Dare's second wedding after all, they didn't want to draw attention to themselves. She sat in front with other guests. The families were yet to arrive, it was still one hour to the wedding. She considered herself the nicest person in the planet as she went as far as getting gifts for the the couple.
An hour later, the church was full and the wedding band began. She stood up with the rest of the guests as the bride began her match. She was sure she caught her eye through the vail as she suddenly tripped after looking her was and had to be held up by her bridesmaid and her father. Other people gasped as she limbed slowly to the alter but Sandra smiled, she was happy she didn't miss the wedding. Karma was at work, even if that was the only thing that happened at the wedding, she was more than happy.
The universe must really love Sandra as vengance was taken. The pastor had already pronounced them husband and wife and Sandra had been woken up by the claps from the audience when a man ran inside, he must have ran a long way as he was very sweaty. Abigail's face fell as he ran to the alter and yanked her hand off that of her newly wedded groom.
Sandra being in front could see and hear everything clearly, so she took out her phone to record the memorable event, she was even bitter anymore and she didn't plan any revenge and karma was acting up. It was the best day ever.
"Abigail what is this? You said you'd marry me after you had the money, instead you used it to get married and to him! What will happen to our child and I, Abigail what is the meaning of this?! Tell me this is a misunderstanding, tell me this is a joke" the man was shouting as he shook Abigail. Everyone in the church was surprised. If what the man said was correct, it meant the child was not Dare's, Dare stepped back in shock, the pastor was shocked, the choir had long stopped playing.
"This is a misunderstanding, it's not what you think" Abigail tried to futilely tried to explain. Dare walked out of the church and murmurs began, although Sandra felt pity for them, she was happy they got a fair share of what they deserved. She stopped recording and took the gift she bought. She took it to the front of the church and handed it to Abigail.
"It's for the baby, happy married life" she whispered in her ears before exiting the church.
