You and the rest of your team all made your way to the auditorium to hear the announcement for the upcoming missions. Ruby left her bag by the pile of other backpacks in the auditorium as you all picked a spot in your school's section. You stood at the end of your team next to your girlfriend Yang. You and your teammates had to wait for a while but after a few minutes, Professor Goodwitch walked on stage with Professor Ozpin. The room was still filled with chatter from the other students.
Professor Goodwitch: Sorry about being late. Now, quiet. Quiet, please.
The chatter in the auditorium died down.
Professor Goodwitch: Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin.
Professor Goodwitch walked off to the side and Professor Ozpin took the microphone.
Professor Ozpin: Today we stand together, united.
Professor Ozpin began pointing to the groups of students and named off each of them by their kingdoms.
Professor Ozpin: Mistral, Atlas, Vaccuo, and Vale. The four kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, eighty years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, greed, and of oppression. A war that was about much more than where borders fell and who traded with whom. But about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression. And as you are all aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their own children after the core aspects of art itself. Color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression but neither would the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day. We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity. Through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why today while the rest of the world celebrates peace, huntsmen and huntresses will work to uphold it.
Holographic screens began to pop up around the auditorium as they all began to display different missions.
As first-year students, you will be tasked with shadowing a professional huntsman or huntress on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best. Everyone applauded as the other students all began to select their missions.
Ruby: This is perfect! Ozpin even said they had a mission prepared for the southeast.
Yang: Yeah! We'll follow them around by day and give them the slip at night.
Weiss: So, where's that mission Ozpin suggested anyway?
Ruby: I dunno. Let's check "Search and Destroy" and see if that's the right one.
Your team began to walk up to the mission titled "Search and Destroy." You felt a little uneasy about your team going on the mission that Ozpin suggested. You began to follow them reluctantly. You weren't afraid of encountering the White Fang or Roman Torchwick but you were afraid that if you encountered your brother it would mean you may have to soon kill him. Ruby seemed to notice.
Ruby: y/n? Are you alright?
y/n: Oh. Yeah. I'm fine.
Ruby: Does it have to do with whatever Professor Ozpin had to talk to you about?
The rest of your team began to look at you concerned. You tensed up a bit.
y/n: Well... yes. But he doesn't want me telling anyone what it is.
