𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲-𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧

a quiet creek awoke sunghoon. as he opened his eyes, a heavenly figure stood in front of sunghoon. the heavenly figure quickly realized that she had just awakened her boyfriend so she did the only practical thing she could think of, covered his mouth.

"sh," she whispered while putting her pointer finger in front of her mouth with her free hand. sunghoon, confused as ever, shifted making the bed creek and earned a slap in the shoulder from lauren.

sunghoon furrowed his eyebrows and rubbed his shoulder with his right hand hoping to ease the pain. lauren — who had still been using her right hand to cover any possible noise sunghoon could conjure — furrowed her eyebrows at him and pointed to a sleeping riki.

sunghoon, still confused, looked around. lauren grabbed his arm and slowly pulled him out of the bed to make as little noise as possible. sunghoon tried his best to soundly creep out of bed, still not understanding why he had to be quiet but he never questioned lauren.

when they reached the hallway, lauren slowly closed the bedroom door that held two other boys that were in a deep sleep beside sunghoon and riki.

lauren quietly and steadily ran to the kitchen and sunghoon followed right behind her wondering if any of the other members were awake to witness this moment.

when sunghoon walked into the kitchen, he was amazed with what he had seen. a plate of taiyakis and the counter had been filled with things like colorful paper, stickers, pens, and sparkles — not to mention the banner across the kitchen that said 'happy birthday ruku!'

"i'm not sure what kind of flavored taiyaki was his favorite so i got chocolate, custard, cheese, and sweet potato" lauren said in a soft tone as she messed with her bracelets. "i was thinking you and i could make him a gift from the both of us like a photo collage or even just birthday card. you could make your own if you'd like, i just thought that since everyone else is asleep considering how early it is, you would do this with me?"

"bear of course," he grabbed all of the crafts on the counter and placed them on the table as he sat down and picked out random colors, "you did this all yourself?"

she sat next to sunghoon and grabbed a piece of pink cardstock. "yeah. i woke up early because i didn't want to wake any of you up but," she turned to sunghoon who had already been looking at her, "it seems like i failed" she smiled fondly had the boy.

sunghoon gave lauren a hard peck on her cheek, "he's gonna love this laur."

"you think so?"

"i know so" sunghoon said reassuringly. lauren kissed his cheek before focusing back on her cardstock and cutting up pieces of paper in the shape of hearts.

sunghoon took this as the perfect opportunity to take a photo of her. he looked around the kitchen hoping to see the camera — that had now been covered in random stickers because of them decorating it the day before, after they had finished eating the cake — which he spotted on the kitchen counter.

he stood up from his seat and grabbed it as he turned to face lauren, who was completely immersed on decorating her card, that she hadnt heard sunghoon call out her name. he took the picture and sat back down next to her. he ran his fingers through the ends of her hair, "you're so cute ice princess."

she looked at sunghoon's side of the table, "hey!"

"that seemed to catch your attention, want me to not call you that anymore?" sunghoon murmured as he continued to twirl his finger around lauren's hair.

"no it's not that," she tapped his side of the table, "what did you make for riki?"

he pulled out a simple, handmade card, "isn't is beautiful?" he said while holding a broad smile.

she rolled her eyes, "that's not enough penguin! make something else, like cutouts of shin-chan or maybe write him a letter and tell him how proud you are of him."

"well obviously," he grabbed more cardstock and pencils, "i was going to do that" he dragged out his sentence as he started to draw stick figures on the cardstock while labeling each stick-figure-person.

as the two continued to decorate and make things together, slowly and surely the other members started to appear and help as well even making their own gifts to give to the birthday boy.

once everyone had finished with their crafts, sunghoon picked everything up while lauren urged everyone to quickly get ready before riki had woken up.

after sunghoon had picked up everything like lauren had told him to, he then got urged to quickly take a shower and get ready because "everyone is already ready and you're the last stinky one."

now lauren was left alone in the kitchen reorganizing everything to make sure it looked perfect to her while six out of the seven boys got ready before they were scolded by sunghoon's girlfriend.

she laid out everyones cards and her gifts she had got him on the kitchen table. she fixed the food on the counter and stuck letters on the taiyaki that spelled out 'happy birthday'.

she grabbed the decorated camera and took a picture of the kitchen.

lauren grabbed her last bag that held party hats and party horns and quickly ran to the living room, where she had told the six boys to stay at once they had finished getting ready, and passed them out.

she noticed a missing body, "where's sunghoon? riki could wake up any time now and he's the only one gone!"

sunghoon quickly ran out of the restroom with half of his sweater on, "im sorry laur i was trying so hard to put this sweater fast and i literally can't get it on!"

lauren dropped her bag and laughed as she fixed and arranged the boy's sweater on correctly. "see," she patted his stomach, "not so hard. now grab a hat and hurry!"

the two quickly put on the hats and heeseung insisted on a group picture. so the seven huddled up and heeseung stretched his arm out as far as he could and snapped a photo with the oddly decorated camera.

"okay now turn of all the lights, we're going to wait in the kitchen until he wakes up" lauren said as she ran off into her destination and the other six excitedly followed.

jungwon, jay, and jake hid under the counter while sunoo and heeseung hid on the side of the refrigerator.

lauren and sunghoon sat in the corner entrance of the kitchen. sunghoon admired lauren, as she was gleaming with the brightest smile in this moment. to sunghoon, lauren was his constant glowing ball of sunshine.

they heard a door open and footsteps get closer. lauren started to grow a slight giggle making sunghoon cover her mouth quickly hoping that riki hadn't heard anything on his way to them.

the lights turned on and all seven figures screamed, "happy birthday!"

riki flinched not knowing registering what had just happened. he noticed all seven of them in party hats and lauren jumping up and down while jake and jay consistently blew their party horns.

lauren ran up in front of riki and placed a party hat on him, "happy birthday ruku!" she declared enthusiastically while hugging his arm.

the rest of the members came around in a group, all simultaneously congratulating him.

the rest of the morning they all spent the morning eating and listening to riki read his letters out loud to the others.
