the next step in lauren's recovery of her break up was to get rid of everything that reminded her of him.

so she woke up on a gloomy saturday afternoon with that mission in mind.

she started with her desk. she gathered the photo booth pictures, squishy animals, stickers, penguin keychain and cat magnet (which was really hard for her to put in that pile considering that it was her favorite so she set that one in its own pile so she could later debate with herself about keeping it) and put them on the ground to set in a pile of all his stuff.

she then made her way to her closet. she had a designated section of sunghoon's clothes she had stolen the night she had slept over in their dorm along with gifts he had bought her. she neatly took his clothes and folded them on the ground and placed her scarf, mittens and beanie that he had gifted her on top of the pile of clothes.

she went to her bed where she stared at the life-sized, stuffed penguin. "i'm keeping you sungchoom. you have caused no harm in my life and i appreciate that." she mumbles to the penguin.

she made her way back to the pile of knacks and sat on the ground.

sadness immediately came over her when her eyes found their way to the photo booth pictures. she could see how bright his smile filled the aura of the photos. her favorite photo — she was sitting on sunghoon's lap, not apparent on the photo but she remembered, and her arms rested across sunghoon's neck while his face was pressed up against her cheek along with both of their dimples being very perceptible whilst they both shared the widest smile — made it harder for her to let go of the pictures.

her loud sigh filled the room. lauren didn't want to let any of these memories go.

she stood up from the ground and left the piles on the floor be. she jumped onto her bed and laid alone. she decided she was going to keep all of his stuff regardless of him wanting it back, which he didn't but she didn't know.

the silence in the room slowly disappeared as she heard the rain slowly fall outside.

a creek was heard and her head turned up to find her mom entering her room. she sat on the edge of lauren's bed, "are you doing something right now?"

"beside trying to get rid of sunghoon's stuff, nothing else." lauren scuffs.

"speaking of sunghoon," lauren's head immediately flew up as his name left her mom's mouth. "can we talk about something?"

she sat up near the headboard of her bed and brung her legs up to her chest. "talk about sunghoon? why? is he here?" she quickly questions while wrapping her arms around her legs.

"no he's not here," jia's face contemplates how to bring up the conversation of their break up. "i was wondering if you were ready to talk about your break up?"

lauren's face drops. "i mean i can talk about it but there's nothing to talk about mom. he just broke up with me without saying anything else, that's all there is to it."

"that's not all there is to it laur."

lauren's eyes furrow as her mom's eyes find it hard to keep eye contact with the brunette. "what do you mean 'that's not all there is to it' mom? i'm sorry if this comes off as mean but i mean he's the one the who broke up with me so im pretty sure thats all there is to it." lauren tries to keep her composure knowing that speaking of their break up was still just as fresh like it was two weeks ago when it happened.

jia adjusted herself and let out a sigh. "i haven't been completely honest with you lauren." jia's face clearly showing her trying to find the words so her daughter wouldn't get angry at her. "i told sunghoon to break up with you."
