Early Rise

After I got ready for the day at freakin 6 am I went to go see if there were any chores to do. I walked down the stairs and Luisa jumped up from behind me.

"Oh hey Luisa. You up early too?"

"Yah. I just have some stuff to do," she teased.

"Well I'm off to go find some chores to do," I say as we get to the bottom of the stairs.

"Sure thing. I'll be outside. Doing things," she states.

I give her a little wave as she trots out of the casita. I noticed tiny water droplets splashed out of my hand. I look to see if anyone was around. Surely enough, there wasn't. So I shrugged it off and went out into the dining room.

The room was a bit dusty. I walked over to the family tree. I was on there next to Camilo. It made me think about the truthfulness of the painting. I really wasn't a Madrigal.

I sighed as took a heavy box out of the room to put in the kitchen as it had the word "silverware" written in it.

"Oh, hola Sofia."

It was just Camilo. He was making some tea it seemed.

"Hey Camilo," I grunted as I lifted the box onto the counter.

He looks at me with a weird expression. "You really are doing chores this early? The sun just came up. Here I'll make you some tea," he says as he grabs a mug.

"It's really not a big deal. I'm just getting things done," I say as I lean onto the counter from half exhaustion from carrying the very heavy box.

He doesn't say much as he melts the tea into the glass.

"Have you been up for a while?" I question.

He slows down the dipping of the tea. He doesn't look up but says, "I've been up for a long time."

I pause a few second before I answer, "You never went to sleep did you."

"I didn't. But it doesn't matter," he shrugs it off.

"Camilo, you need to sleep. Ill tell everyone your taking the day off," I tell him as I take the tea he was making and start making it myself.

Dolores then pops into the room.

"Wassup Dolo," Camilo half smiles.

Dolores gives him a funny look and pats him on the arm and says, "Camilo go to bed. The tea can be made later."

"Argh fine," he slugs. "Buenos dias and buenas noches."

Dolores and I look at each other and then slightly giggle. But we quickly stopped after a moment.

Dolores waits a second, ruffles her dress, and then says, " I heard him crying a bit last night."

"What? Camilo? Crying?"

Dolores picks up Camilo tea and stirs it. "I don't really know why. He never said anything."

"Should we tell Pepa? Or Felix? Or even Abuela?" I ask.

"Let's just keep it to ourselves. I'll be keeping an ear on him though," she says as she grabs a metal straw and starts to sip on the tea.

I nod.

Dolores stops drinking the tea and mutters, "Marianos coming. Aye dios Tori."

She walks out of the room. "Aye dios Dolo.."
