Jungkook pov
My alarm blared harshly as I was startled awake. 7 am. I finished late at my normal job at the supermarket last night, my eyes just staring at the ceiling above me, sight still slightly unfocused. It was a cream colour, the flat edging lining the joints of the ceiling and walls. My room was quite boring, but I liked it. A simple light grey colour on the walls, a double bed in the corner, a small but equitable walk-in, a small bathroom tucked behind a beige-coloured wooden door on the left side of the room. I had a little desk, which was currently covered with half-eaten chip packets, empty coke cans and a couple of messed up earphones - probably two or three pairs considering I found the other two that I lost a month ago. I had a regular PC that was sat on the desk, the light slightly dimmed as I had forgotten to turn it off the night before. It was a small apartment but I loved it, it reminded me of home.
Outside my bedroom door was a small lounge room with a mediocre black leather couch, a wooden coffee table and a medium-sized tv hanging droopily on the wall. My kitchen was just recently renovated because of my slight pay rise, the cupboards a glistening white, the benchtops a washed-out black marble. The silver handles freshly cleaned - no fingerprints in sight. I worked two jobs you see, my casual occurrences at the supermarket down the street and my part-time participation in writing books. My newest piece added to the now trilogy of a highly renowned series of my own collection.
When I graduated university three years ago I had taken up an apprenticeship at a famous publishing company - having them being fans of my drafts - they actually gave me a chance at publishing my stories for the world to read and encounter. I had great friends in uni, they were there for me even before those hard 3 years of higher learning. Three of the five recently acknowledged their ever-growing feelings for each other. Although it's been about 3 years since I have seen any of them, I know that they all moved to a rather secluded town in the south - wanting time to breathe from the heavily polluted air of the city.
Speaking of the town, I should be having a shower and getting ready to leave, instead of laying in my bed heavily spaced out. As I was just snapping out of my thoughts I felt my phone vibrating violently, my mum's name appearing on the screen. I smiled and happily answered. "Hey honey!" She graciously yelped as she changed the call to a facetime. "Hey mum, is Liv there too?" I asked curiously. She chuckled, "Hey Kook! How are you, sweetie?" She spoke happily, waving at me through the screen. "Not too bad," I said smiling. They were about to speak again until Liv realised I was still in bed. "Yah! Are you seriously still in bed! Aren't you leaving at 8:30?" She said baffled.
I smiled sheepishly, nodding my head as an answer. "This boy," she muttered silently. "Kook go shower and get changed! When you arrive make sure to give us a call yeah?" My mum spoke as she wrapped a hand around Liv's shoulder, "No worries. I will, you know that." Nodding they began to get ready to end the call. "Have fun, Kook! We love you bud!" Liv chimed, my mum, Aria, smiled and kissed her cheek. "Yeah, you little rascal! We love you! Say hi to the boys for us!" I chuckled heartily. "Okay, I will. Gotta go get ready now, talk to you later!" After I finally ended the call, I whipped up from my half-asleep state and made a beeline for the bathroom.

The car revved up as I made my way to the highway, saying goodbye to my city for the summer. The drive consisted of a few hours of jamming out to my mixed Spotify playlist, it was a mix of happy and sad tears for the first 4 hours until I took a quick pitstop at the closest Maccas, ordering a cheeseburger meal and going to the bathroom while I waited. The mix of tomato and mustard slightly dribbled on my lips as I sunk my teeth into the burger, the salty taste pleasing my tastebuds. "Just another 4 hours" I muttered to myself as I began humming to the next song that began playing.
To say this town was different to how I am used to would be an understatement. As I drove through the slightly bustling streets, I saw a huge building to my right, a huge cross dangling on the roof proudly. I passed the building and drove another few minutes until I reached the address of my childhood and adulthood friends. Considering the fact that they didn't know I was coming today was displayed on their surprised yet ecstatic faces as they opened the door revealing yours truly. "Kook!" They all yelled in unison as the brown haired midget gawked at me. I smiled brightly as I waved, waiting to be let inside. "Yah! Idiot let him in!" A broad-shouldered man yelped as he raised his hand gesturing to the boy at the door to move out of the way.
"Nice to see you too Jiminie," I spoke as he pulled me into a hug. The others ran up and embraced me too. "God we missed you, you coconut head!" Jin, the broad-shouldered man yelped. I smiled happily, noting how happy they all were to see me. "How have you been Jungkook? We saw your books in the local store! Although we were given looks when we went to buy it," Hobi, the literal embodiment of sunshine stated, muttering the last part, leaving a slightly bitter taste in my mouth. "Why?" I asked, not knowing that this was just half of the truths about this town. "They look down on people like that, something about their religious mindset. Sorry, but I prefer a dick up my ass than mine up someone's pussy," Jimin said as he rolled his eyes.
I was taken aback, wide-eyed. "What do you mean?" I questioned. "This town is excruciatingly religious, Kook. Christian mindset all the way, we live amongst very close-minded people." Yoongi added in tiredly as he stepped away from the warm embrace. "Really?" I said quietly, my teeth numbly playing with my lip ring. They all looked at me sadly, but nodded. "We found out the hard way when we first moved here, Jin and I were holding hands and just having fun like usual. Until we saw the disgusted glances being thrown at us. Not only that but the ugly words being described about people's assumptions about us." I could feel tears stinging in the corner of my eyes, knowing how much the duo struggled to accept themselves and each other, having to go through the pain and outcasting actions of society yet again.
"A-are you out here though? D-do they know that you all are together?" I wanted to slap myself for muttering, but the possibility that they have to hide themselves left me unsettled. They all looked sadly at me, eyes cast down. "J-jin and I are. But when they found out, Kook, i-it was so hard." Namjoon stuttered, salty tears leaking out of his eyes. It baffled me seeing how powerless Joon looked, considering he was the most logical and level headed of all of us, it was truly heartbreaking seeing how much society has fucked with his heart. Jin pulled him into a sweet kiss, allowing him to compose himself, turning serious. "But now," he said clearing his throat. "We are out and together, we couldn't care less about their objectified opinions. The others are ready to come out, but they are just taking precautions beforehand." He stated surely.
I smiled knowing that the noble and like-minded man was back. He was my role-model, always having him with me during my earlier years, I knew I could trust him with anything - much like everyone else in this room. "We are strong Kook, we know how to deal with their shit," Yoongi said calmly, holding Hobi's and Jimin's hands gently. He was always a headstrong character, I still don't know how these two people managed to cool down that hot head. "I-I'm just scared of what they would do to Tae if they found out he was close friends with the gays of the town," Jimin said sniffing.
I furrowed my brows, looking at them confusedly. "Who's Tae?"
"The Priest's son." They spoke in unison.
