Katherine pulls up to Chris's house with Lucas on the afternoon of his birthday party. They were greeted at the door by Chris in full Captain America get up.

"Cool!" Lucas hugged Chris before entering the house.

Katherine laughed, "isn't that a bit much?"

Chris shrugged, "it's a Captain America birthday. What sort of party would it be without Captain America?" He put his arms up, "besides, you know I look hot."

She laughed again, wrapping her arms around him, "you really do." She followed him into the house, "I've been partial to Bucky though." She heard Chris laugh as someone stepped in front of them, "seriously?" She felt her face turn red as Sebastian stood in front of them.

Chris laughed, "I know Lucas might be partial to Bucky as well, so..." He motioned to Sebastian who only smiled.

"He tried to talk me into wearing the costume and I said no way."

Katherine nodded, looking around to see decorations everywhere. "Well, looks like he might have gone a little overboard."

Chris shrugged, "I was excited."

She went outside to find a giant bounce house, "what is that?"

Chris stood behind her, "it's a marvel themed obstacle course bounce house. Cool huh?"

She groaned, pulling him away, "don't you think this is a bit much? The costume, the bounce house. He's 8."

He shrugged, crossing his arms, "is it? I was excited. Are you mad?"

She sighed, "no." She put her arms around his neck as she felt him rest his at her waist, "you don't need to buy his love. He already loves you Chris. And like I said, he's only 8. You have to pace yourself with birthdays. What, are you going to buy him a car next year?"

He laughed, "not next year."

She laughed, "I'm serious, next time run these things past me."

He nodded, "you don't like the uniform?"

She smirked, "I do. I'm going to enjoy removing it from you later."

He smiled, "exactly what I was thinking. A present for Lucas and for you."

She laughed, shaking her head, "you're ridiculous. Let me guess what the cake is." She heard him laugh as she pulled away, going into the kitchen to see a Captain America shield cake. She sighed, "you really went all out?"

"He did."

She smiled as Sebastian came up to them, "I'm sorry. It's nice to meet you Sebastian. I'm sorry that Chris dragged you to a kids party."

He shrugged, "it's fine. I don't mind. And he never asks for anything. It's nice to meet you too Kate."

Before she could say anything else, Lucas came up to them, hugging Chris, "thanks for the party Chris! I love it!"

Chris nodded, kneeling down to hug him, "you're so welcome buddy." He pointed to Sebastian, "have you met Sebastian? He played Bucky."

Lucas smiled as Sebastian knelt next to them, "hey. It's nice to meet you Lucas."

"It's nice to meet you Sebastian. So what do you think about Steve going back in time and leaving Bucky?"

Sebastian laughed, looking from Chris to Katherine as Chris groaned, "okay. That's enough of that."

Sebastian shook his head, "no. I want to hear what the kid has to say. What do you think about it Lucas?"

Lucas shrugged, "that Steve was a bad friend. That he left his best friend for a girl."

Sebastian laughed, "well I can't say I disagree. I don't think Bucky was necessarily okay with it. But sometimes as friends, you have to let your friend do what they think is best. Even if it isn't what you want."

Chris nodded, "and I told you bud, love is complicated."

Lucas sighed, "I know. Do you love my mom."

Sebastian looked at Katherine before getting up to back away. She knelt down next to him, "Luke.."

Chris interrupted her, "of course I love her." He poked Lucas gently in the chest, "I love you too bud."

"Chris!"

He shrugged as Lucas hugged him, closing his eyes, he wrapped his arms around Lucas.

Lucas smiled, "I love you too Chris."

Katherine stood up groaning as Lucas disappeared outside. She grabbed Chris's arm, pulling him into a spare bedroom, "what are you doing?"

"Did you want me to lie to the kid?"

"You're an actor! You're trained to answer around questions; not answer them directly."

She began to pace until Chris grabbed her hand, "I love you Kate. And I love Lucas. I won't hold it back or hide it."

She groaned, "Chris."

He chuckled, pulling her to him, "this is the part where you say I love you too. Or you say you aren't there yet."

"I do love you."

He laughed, "then tell your face."

Katherine laughed, putting her arms around his neck, "you're getting it later."

He moaned softly, "I can't wait." He hesitated, "I apologize in advance for Lucas's present. Considering your reaction thus far, you're going to be big mad. But I accept any and all punishment later." He left the room before she could ask what the present was.

Katherine came out of the room to come face to face with Lucas's grandparents. "Hi!" She motioned to Chris who smiled, "this is Chris. Chris, these are Paul's parents, Tammy and Keith."

They both smiled and shook Chris's hand.

Chris smiled, "it's really great to meet you. Lucas is a great kid."

Tammy nodded, "I know he is. He was talking a lot about you when we had him over last."

Chris smiled again, "that makes me happy to hear."

Katherine sat watching Lucas open presents before Chris handed him a square one. She saw the guilty look on his face as Lucas opened the box to display an expensive Star Wars Lego set.

"The Death Star!"

Chris smiled, "yeah! I thought we could leave it here for us to do together."

Lucas leapt into his arms, hugging him. "Thank you Chris!"

Katherine got up to go to the kitchen, cutting the cake.

"I'm sorry."

She scoffed, "if you have enough forethought to apologize then you should have had enough forethought not to buy it." She sighed as she turned around, crossing her arms, "that's a twelve hundred dollar lego set Chris! I told you, he's only 8! He loves you, you don't need to spoil him."

Chris groaned, "I'm sorry. I went a little overboard! I'll make sure I talk to you from now on before I buy him stuff. Please don't be mad. I love you."

She sighed, relaxing her arms as she felt him place his hands at her waist, pouting. "Chris.."

He rested his head against hers, "I'm sorry. Please don't change your mind about spending the night. I made Lucas his own room."

She groaned again, following him as he led her to a room down the hall. He opened the door to display a room with blue walls. It had a bed and desk and dresser, along with a bean bag chair and a tv in the corner.

"I left it plain so he could decorate or do what he wants with it."

"It's perfect!"

Katherine laughed as Lucas came up between them. She grabbed Chris's hand, "thanks."

Chris nodded, "of course. I want you guys to feel like home when you're here."
