His smile could certainly brighten up my day, even if it was gloomy. He was my sunshine, and I was his. I knew that the day we met for the third time, he was special to me.

October 2nd 1988

"Tegan! Can we please do something?" Amelia wined for the sixth time in an hour. I babysit her every Tuesday.

"Well what would you like to do Miss. Amelia." I said 'Mrs. Amelia' in a proper accent.

"I want to go to the park." she said.

"The park? But that's like 10 minutes away!" I dramatically sighed and flopped onto the couch. Amelia giggled.

"Please Tegan! I want to go on the big slide!" she begged.

"Okay well we're going to have to walk, so put on your good shoes." I told her.

"Okay!" she exclaimed and ran to find her shoes.

The walk to the park consisted of me carrying Amelia half way into it, because "her feet hurt so much" and "she was just a little girl."

When we arrived I put her down and let her go play. There was one other kid there with her Mom.

I sat at one of the picnic tables and watched Amelia talk to the other girl, who looked her age, and ask her if she wanted to play pirates.

"Arrrgg matey!" Amelia yelled to her new friend, then climbed onto the playground set. When she made it to the top, she waved at me. I, of course, waved back .

I saw someone familiar sitting at a picnic table about 15 feet away, by the basketball courts, he looked as if he were writing.

"Amelia, you stay here, okay? I'll be right back." I said to her. I know it's not the safest thing to do but it wasn't far, if something were to happen I could always run to help her, and she was playing with a friend.

Amelia yelled back an 'Okay' as a response and I walked over to the figure. Once I got closer I knew that my guessing was right.

"Why hello, Mr. River Phoenix." I said. He looked up, and smiled really big.

"Hi, Tegan. Long time no see." he said. It had actually only been 2 weeks or so.

"Yeah, I'm here with Amelia-" I pointed in the direction of Amelia "-you wanna come sit over there?" I asked.

"Yeah, or course." he said and followed me to where I had last been seated.

"What's that?" I asked when he set his notebook down.

"My journal." he said. "I write about everything beautiful I see, all the wonders in life."

"That's amazing." I smiled.

"Thanks." he slightly blushed and looked down. He looked back up and said "You know you're in it?"

"Really?" I asked.

"Well I did say that I write about everything beautiful I see." he smiled. It was my turn to blush.

"Thank you River. I appreciate it, really." I told him. He nodded.

"I love how you see the world." I said. "First you say that you love animals and then I find out that you write down all the wondrous things there is to find. It's truly amazing."

"Thank you, I usually try to look at all the positives of the world rather that he negatives." He said.

We talked a little longer about random things, from fruits, to colors, to music.

"Arrggg! Steer the wheel matey!" Amelia told the other girl.

"I can't Melia, I have to go." the girl looked down and frowned.

"But can't you play for a little bit?" Amelia asked her.

"Lizzie, C'mon!" the girls, who's name in assuming is Lizzie, Mom yelled.

"Bye, Lizzie." Amelia said.

"Bye Melia." Lizzie replied and left. Amelia came down from the play place and over to River and I.

"That was my best friend." she told us. River looked over to me.

"She just met her." I told him, and shrugged.

"Hey, I saw you last weeks ago." Amelia said to River. He laughed.

"Last weeks ago?" he questioned.

"She can't say 'The other day' or 'A few weeks ago' so that's what she says for it." I told him.

"Tegan, can we go back you your house? I want to eat a peanut butter sandwich." she told me. I looked over to River, feeling bad that I had to leave, again.

"I'm so sorry." I told him.

"No, no it's fine." he said.

"Can I see your journal and pencil for a second please?" I asked him. He handed me them. I flipped to an open page and wrote something down.

"Now you have my number and I, written in your journal." I said.

"Thanks." his smile widened.

"Don't forget to call me." I said and walked away with Amelia.

This chapter totally sucked but I'm so tired so I might tweak a few things tomorrow, but nothing major.

Thank you all for voting, commenting and reading. It means a lot!

I'm thinking of writing another fanfic soon but I'm not sure who to do it on. I know I want it to be and an 80s or 90s person. Maybe Joe McIntyre from nkotb ? I don't know, any suggestions?
