Day after day I thought of him, I'm sure he thought of me too. It was just a matter of time before I could trust someone.
He had a great heart, a very happy person.

October 8th 1988"But Mom, I don't want to!" I wined to my Mother.
"No, Teegan, it's about time that you learn responsibility. You're 17 for Christ sakes! You should've had a job a year ago!" she told me.
My Mom thought that it was about time that I "grew up" and got a job, to buy a car and stuff. I thought that it was down right wrong.
"Well there's no job openings anywhere." I smiled triumphantly.
"Then find one." she gave me the stern look, then walked into the kitchen.
I sighed really loud, wanting her to hear, then walked out the door.
I walked to the town, which wasn't for from my house, and looked around. I walked into the first store I saw to asked for work.
"Hi, are you looking for people to work here?" I asked the cashier.
"No, sorry." she gave me an apologetic look.
"Okay, well thanks anyway." I said and left the small store.
I walked to the next one, "Are you looking for people to work here?" I ask the next stores cashier.
"Not at the moment, sorry." he said. I nodded.
Boy, this was gonna be a long day.

After about an hour of walking around, and being rejected about 24 times, I finally landed a job.
It's at a cute, little boutique called Blu 99. It was one of those stores where they had their house built on top, so they practically live in the store.
I talked to the owner and she seemed very nice, this means sucking up for the next few weeks. Fun.
When I arrived back home my Mom asked how it went.
"Good." I said and smiled.
"Where did you get a job at?" she asked.
"Blu 99, the one on Camisole Road." I told her. She nodded like she approved.
"Well a boy called the house a while ago, asking for you. I told him you'd call him back as soon as you got home." she said.
'River.' I thought.
"Okay thanks Mom." I said and ran up to my room.
I grabbed the house phone, and dialed his number. He gave it to me on our "date" and I memorized it.
It rung about 3 times before he answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Tegan. I'm sorry I didn't answer, I was out looking for a job." I told him.
"No, you're fine." he said. I could practically see his sweet smile.
"So where are you working at now?" he asked.
"Blu 99." I said.
"Oh, that store down the street? I've passed by there a few times." he said.
"Yeah it's a cute store." I said.
"I bet." was all he said. Then it got silent. It was kind of awkward.
"So, why did you call?" I asked, in an attempt to make conversation.
"No reason, I just wanted to hear your voice." he said. Even though he couldn't see me, I blushed.
"Well isn't that cute." I playfully said.
"No as cute as you." he told me.
"You're just full of compliments, aren't you? I said.
"Pretty much." he laughed.
His laugh was going to be the death of me. Heck, he was going to be the death of me.
