Oh Gosh, I remember our first date like it was yesterday, good times, I'll tell ya.

I just didn't want it to be like the past.

October 21, 1988

After what seemed like eight thousand years, Saturday finally arrived.

I had told my Mom, the night before, that I was going out, not telling her any details about anything. My Dad wouldn't care so I just let it be.

I awoke, and saw that it was almost ten-thirty in the morning. I walked downstairs to see no one up, surprisingly. I grabbed a bowl for cereal, when I went to open the refrigerator door, I saw a note.

Had to go to work today, sorry it was unexpected. We'll be back later this evening.

- Mom and Dad

It said in my Moms perfect handwriting.

After eating my cereal, I walked upstairs and started to plan what I was going to wear. I had nothing better to do so why not?

I chose a dress that went a little past mid thigh, it was black and had a cream belt on the waist.

I put it on a hanger and set it outside my closet door.

Then, I grabbed a book and sat to my window seat, reading It by Stephen King

I actually loved that book, I mean who would've thought of a killer clown in the sewers of Derry, murdering the kids and having a group of friends destroy it, only to find out about 27 years later that it has came back and they must re defeat it? Stephen King, that's who.

I couldn't really focus on my book to much, even though it's my third time reading it, because I was to busy thinking of tonight.

I had no idea what was to come, but, boy, was I nervous.

The time had finally come that I was going to start getting ready. I didn't know how fancy to go, so I just lightly curled my hair and and put on a little makeup.

I just decided to wear some black flats, then I walked downstairs.

My Mom was sitting in the living room, and my Dad was probably in his room, sleeping, even though it was only about four-thirty.

"You look great!" my Mom said when she saw me, I thanked her.

"So, where are you going again?" she asked.

"Just out." I shrugged, I didn't want her to get all excited that it was a date, if things don't work out.

The kitchen phone started ringing, and my Mom got up to answer it.

After a few moments she yelled "Teegan! It's for you!"

I walked in there, picked up the phone, then shooed my Mom out.

"Hey, Teegan, so I forgot to ask, but where do you live?" River asked from the other line.

I gave him my address and he said that he was on his way. I headed back to the living room and sat on the couch, next to my Mom.

She looked at me and said "I approve."

"Huh?"

"Of the boy." she confirmed. "I approve."

"We're not even a thing, Mom." I told her.

"Well either way, he was very polite." she nodded.

"What did he say?" I asked.

"I answered and he said 'Hello, is this Teegan?' and I told him 'No, but this is her Mother.' and he said 'Hello, Ma'am, I'm River and I was wondering if I could possibly speak to your daughter." she said.

"But all I'm saying is that I approve." the sound of the doorbell ringing stopped me from replying.

My Mom jumped up and ran to the door, wasn't that supposed to be my job?

She opened it and said "Hi, you must be River! I'm Teegan's Mom, Kimley." I heard him greet her and I decided to interrupt them.

"Hey, are you ready to go?" I asked him. He smiled, nodded, and said goodbye to my Mom.

We walked out to his 1952 Victoria Mainline car, and he opened the door for me, like a gentleman.

"Thank you." I said and sat in the seat.

He walked over to the drivers side and started the car.

"You look lovely." he complimented me.

"Awe, thank you River. You look nice also." I told him, he was wearing a nice tux.

"Thank you." he smiled.

The drive was about 20 minutes until we arrived at a huge restaurant.

He opened the door for me, again, and my Moms words rang in my head.

"I approve."
