I remember that day clearly. Our first "date" if you want to say. The old movie house. The Centre I believe it was called. Gosh, he was so sweet to take me there.

He was a sweetheart.

October 4th 1988

I left my house around 2:35 knowing that it'd take at least twenty minutes to talk to where we'd we planned to meet.

I arrived at the corner of Mercies and Lakee at 2:57. Seeing River no where in sight, I waited. I was thinking about what we were going to do. Heck, I hardly even knew River for all I know he could drag me into the alley next door and murder me. I doubt it. He seemed to sweet to even kill a bug.

A hand touched my shoulder from behind, interrupting my thoughts, making me jump.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." I heard River's voice say.

I turned around to see him. He had a big smile on his face. "No, you're fine. Sorry I was just deep in thought."

"Well, I'm sorry for being a little late." he said, and I playfully rolled my eyes.

I dramatically gasped. "River Phoenix! You are one minute late, I don't think I could ever forgive you." I said, turned my back to him and across my arms like I was mad.

"Can I make it up?" he asked.

"Depends what you have in mind." I said, still not looking at him.

"How about we go see a film at The Centre down the street?" he suggested.

"What film?" I asked and looked at him.

"Flowers in the attic?"

"Didn't that come out last year?" I laughed.

"Yeah but they're showing it this week only." he said.

I wiggled my eyebrows. "Fancy."

We stepped out of the movie, which was actually very interesting, about an hour and a half later.

"So what now?" he asked.

"I'm down with anything." I told him.

"How about we go eat?" River said.

"Okay, how about Sid's diner?" I asked.

"Can't." was all he said.

"And why's that?"

"Vegans don't eat meat." he said matter factually.

"You're a vegan?" I asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, I believe that Animals are our companions. They shouldn't be used as food. They're helpless, they can't defend them selfs against humans. It's horrible." he says and shakes his head.

"That's beautiful." I said.

"Not as beautiful as you." he said.

He was just too sweet, and I loved it.
